The headlight at the front is huge. It not only has a large diameter, but is elongated. A mechanical centrifugal decompression mechanism is located in each of the exhaust valves, providing quick, easy starting. The 3-axis crankcase layout means the crankshaft, main axle and drive shaft are specially manufactured to minimize engine size and centralize mass.

The dry sump lubrication system has been optimized to provide maximum lubrication and cooling. Special oil nozzles direct oil to the bottom of the pistons to cool and lubricate them. The dry sump system allows for a more compact engine design since the oil tank is not part of the engine, lowering the center of gravity for ease of handling. Special "double-chamber" crankcase design: the front section is for the crank mechanism, while the rear section is for the transmission. Two 3-rotor high-flow oil pumps optimize oil flow to each of the two main sections of the engine.

Huge 100mm ceramic cylinder bores ensure even heat dissipation, help reduce weight, reduce friction and increase cylinder life.

The Air Induction System (AIS) injects fresh oxygen into the exhaust port to ensure complete combustion, thereby reducing harmful exhaust emissions (HC & CO), while the special cross-section of the air valve reduces the possibility of misfire.

The belt drive system uses less energy than a drive shaft and reduces vehicle weight for the large rear sport suspension.

The smooth-shifting 5-speed transmission provides optimized gear ratios. 5th gear is designed to reduce engine speed at high speeds for maximum ride comfort.

The instrument panel includes an analogue speedometer and fuel gauge with a low fuel warning light, as well as a digital odometer, dual tripmeter, trip meter and clock. The backlight can be adjusted to suit personal preference.

This motorcycle is eye-catching. Many people dream about it, and for good reason, because it is almost two liters of life, it is Yamaha’s top cruiser. But those who are looking at this model sometimes have questions - how do the different versions and configurations of this motorcycle differ from each other? It's actually quite simple.

To begin with, it is worth mentioning that in the markets of different countries these motorcycles are called differently.
For example, in Europe and Japan this model is sold under the name Yamaha Midnight Star XV 1900 . This version is “naked”, that is, without pre-installed body kit, such as a windshield, panniers, passenger backrest, etc. The motorcycle only has platforms, and that’s because this model is not provided with footrests at all (unless, of course, you want to install them yourself instead of the standard platforms). Additionally, there are other differences between the American and European versions. Thus, the “Europeans” are equipped with a more advanced combined braking system. Other than that, there are some minor differences in the wiring, but you're unlikely to ever need these. But the US motorcycle market offers buyers much greater variety, producing many versions of the same motorcycle. The basic version is Roadliner .
This is, in fact, the same “naked” bike as the Midnight Star 1900. No standard body kit. All decorative elements covered with chrome on more expensive versions are made of polished aluminum. Otherwise, it's still the same good cruiser. But, given the more than modest (and often completely absent) difference in price between different versions of this motorcycle on the secondary market (with the exception of the Deluxe version), you can look for a richer package. up is the Roadliner S. This is the same Roadliner, but packed with chrome to the fullest. At the beginning of the article, you can see in the photo the S-version of the motorcycle. (In Yamaha cruiser nomenclature, the "S" usually denotes the advanced trim, usually chrome.) The regular Roadliner just looks a little less shiny in appearance, and it's not noticeable. However, in our country the basic version of the Roadliner is quite rare.

The same place in the intra-model hierarchy is occupied by
the Roadliner Midnight . Its difference is that all those parts that are made chrome in the S version are painted matte black.


Next come the Stratoliners. The Yamaha Stratoliner is the same “Roadliner”, but equipped with a windshield, a passenger backrest and leather-covered plastic panniers. By the way, the cases are locked with a key. Moreover, with the same key you can instantly both open the trunks and remove the backrest or glass. Very comfortably. The Stratoliner also has a slightly more expensive S version. Stratoliner S differs from its simpler brother in the abundance of chrome.

Of greatest interest to some is the most expensive version of the motorcycle - Yamaha Stratoliner Deluxe . There are the most differences in this version, just look at the photo.


Everything that can be plated with chrome is chromed in this version. There are no differences from the Stratoliner S. The panniers are of a different shape, and are always painted in the color of the motorcycle, unlike the regular Stratoliner version. The passenger backrest is also present - it is simply not in the photo, it is no different from that on a simple Stratoliner. The main difference is the front fairing. It hides a music system with two speakers and a small but convenient glove compartment (which, by the way, is designed in such a way that even when shaking, it is unlikely that anything will fall out of it). And although the quality of the standard music system is not that excellent, up to a speed of 100-110 km/h the music can be heard normally, and there is no desire to wince and turn off the cacophony muffled by the wind. If, instead of a small standard glass, you install another one, higher, then the music will be heard much better, since with a short glass, for an average motorcyclist 175-185 cm tall, the wind hits the helmet and whistles in the ears. And, of course, for lovers of matte black models there is a version of the Stratoliner Deluxe Midnight .
