Suzuki Boulevard M50/Intruder M800 (2005-2009) | Suzuki Boulevard M50/Intruder M800 (2010-2019) |
Suzuki Intruder M800 cruiser model
appeared in early 2005 as a replacement for the Suzuki VZ800 Marauder (Desperado).
In the North American market, the model was sold under the name Suzuki Boulevard M50
.
Despite the difference in names, both motorcycles are almost completely identical (with the exception of logos and nameplates). At the same time, a domestic Japanese version was also introduced, called the Suzuki Boulevard 400, which shared visual features with the Intruder M800 / Boulevard M50, but with a number of technical differences. However, the export version of the Suzuki Intruder M800 (Boulevard M50) from 2005 to 2006. It was also sold in a limited edition in Japan under the name Suzuki Boulevard 800
(outwardly identical to the M50, but without the M50 stickers on the plastic side covers).
The Suzuki Intruder M800 (Boulevard M50) model was built on the basis of the classic version of the Suzuki VL800 Intruder (Boulevard C50), differing from it not only externally (fenders, wheels, front suspension, headlight, etc.), but also in engine - in particular, chopped connecting rods and other valves (which also required minor changes to the cylinder head). The engine of the Suzuki Intruder M800 (Boulevard M50) is a 2-cylinder V-shaped liquid-cooled unit with a volume of 805 cc. see, producing 52 hp. power and 68 Nm of torque. Maximum engine performance is at 4000-6000 rpm.
In 2009, the model receives minor changes regarding the shape of the air filter housing (triangle shape) and the instrument panel (an LCD fuel level indicator appears). The intake system gets dual throttle valves (SDTV system).
In 2010, the model underwent a major restyling, receiving the visual features of the older version of the Suzuki Intruder M1500 (Boulevard M90) and the same engine from the C50 version (this simplified the search for spare parts, making the M50 and C50 engines completely unified with each other).
2019 was the final year of production of the Suzuki Boulevard M50.

First meeting with my friend
Who doesn’t want to waste time on a tedious and illiterate story, go to the second section.
The agony of choosing a motorcycle overtook me in 2013. Approaching the threshold of 30 years, I realized that I practically need an iron friend with whom I will traverse the expanses of our warm city. I dreamed of a motorcycle from an early age, and now this very moment has come, sleepless nights on Avito, a regular visitor to motorcycle salons and motorcycle forums. I immediately refused “sports”; after analyzing my character and driving style, I realized that “sports” are contraindicated for me, since they really encourage me to drive fast, and I have no desire to beat my butt on bumps. My first experience as a “butt runner” was on sports 220 in a straight line, 160 on a goat, to be honest, I was very impressed and thought about them for a while, but then abruptly changed my mind when they took me for a ride on a chopper. Oh, what a pleasant experience I got..., a sofa seat, a pleasant roar, the brutality of the spendthrift went off scale, moderately powerful, he didn’t yell, let’s squeeze everything out of me, on the contrary, he said, slow down, let’s drive imposingly along this street, “He who knows life is in no hurry.” And from then on I firmly decided that the first motorcycle would be a chopper!
I started looking at the Honda Shadov 750, a good bike, although I didn’t like the big wheel in front, then there was a Harley Sportster, but my dad, who is far from motorcycles, and not knowing that THIS IS A LEGENDARY MOTORCYCLE!!!, told me “son.” , what kind of moped is this under you?”, I realized, I need to look further...). Further, after talking with “experienced” bikers who told me that a motorcycle up to a liter is not a motorcycle, I looked at the Yamaha Warrior, a really cool motorcycle! for me personally) there is no equal! I dial the number with trembling hands, make an appointment, arrive, sit down... and understand that this is a locomotive that can take me (174cm/70kg) straight to HELL!!! I didn’t like the fit in it, since the saddle was too wide for my petite figure, and the 350 kg weight was hard for me, an inexperienced “biker,” to move. I’m generally silent about power: 3.5 seconds to 100 km! Three, bitch, and 5 seconds! Well, which Warrior was the first motorcycle!? But I didn’t care, and I decided to take 4 days to think about it. I thought about it, took the money, called...., it was already sold, it sounded at the other end of the phone and a strange feeling enveloped me, on the one hand I was upset, but on the other, it somehow became easier... So it’s not mine, I said. I decided not to return to this motorcycle again, and my friend tried his best to dissuade me from buying the Warrior. Once again I climbed into the vastness of the Internet and here HE is the Bolevard M50! I immediately liked this motorcycle, whipped up, not very powerful, brutal, in general, I fell in love... After looking at the reviews and a couple of reviews on YouTube, I firmly decided to stick with it. By the way, I noticed that there is very little information about this motorcycle in our country, mostly “R109” and nothing about the Mki... Well, okay, break a bunch of M50x on Avito, I finally found it in Moscow, 2007, fitted for sale in late 2013 from Japan. The question was, who will diagnose this motorcycle? My friend made a significant contribution here (many thanks to him for this), calling his relative at the Fine Custom Mechanics studio in Moscow and asking him to check this motorcycle with passion. After a thorough check and test drive, a verdict was made: replacement of the right oil seal, air filter, and for internal peace of mind, replacement of all fluids, there are scratches on the fender and fork, the original tires are also replaceable. In general, the motorcycle is in excellent condition, they said, and it also has a small tuning (direct flow with a power commander). Guys with extensive experience, name and reputation dispelled all doubts. 4 agonizing days of waiting and now my motorcycle is on the threshold of the business lines of my city. We disassembled the little box and here it is - a beauty!!!, filled with gasoline, key, start. The motorcycle started up from the first push, the pleasant sound of forward flow made everyone around me pay attention to the motorcycle, one came up and asked, is this a Harley Davidson?)))) In general, I was once again convinced of the correctness of my choice. A friend drove him to our work, where he is waiting for the consumables to arrive. I decided not to ride the motorcycle until I replaced the consumables, my friend laughs and says I’m working on willpower. Every day I roll it out of the garage and admire it. I can note one minor drawback of the transport company: when they wrapped it in film before shipping, they used terribly sticky tape, there were traces of it on the motorcycle, I don’t remove it, I’m waiting for it to be serviced, I’ll wipe everything off before a general wash. That's actually all I wanted to say. I will post all the manipulations performed with my iron friend here.

Reviews of Suzuki Intruder M800 (Boulevard M50):

My opinion about the M50 is short - an excellent balanced motorcycle for both beginners and non-novices, I haven’t gotten bored with it in more than three years. It’s made competently; there’s no desire to alter anything in it “to suit you.” It’s comfortable to sit, it drives briskly, and in principle it doesn’t lag behind the same 1100 Drag Star. It consumes gasoline moderately; in the “sick on the highway” mode, the tank easily lasts for 250+ km. The dynamics allow you to get away from traffic lights to the point, the engine pulls from the bottom. There were no problems for three years, except for a warped piston in the brake caliper, which was fixed on my own in half a day. I pour gasoline 92nd
The overall impression is yes, never a chopper, rather a modern city cruiser, fun, dynamic and rider-friendly. Well, girls like it too
Suzuki Intruder M800. IMHO he has no problems. Excellent device. In my opinion, in its cubature the best. Liquid cooling, cardan. It’s playful, and in terms of dynamics it gives a head start to any liter)) it handles simply superbly. His appearance is generally 5+. I have a 2006 device - during the season there was not even a hint of any problems. Everything works like clockwork. I definitely recommend it.
I can't think of any cons at all. Well, maybe at the back if there wasn’t a drum but a disc brake it would be a +.
This is my second season of riding and my impressions are only getting better. In terms of dynamics, at the start I use a lot of 400-600 cc bikes. So for a chopper it is very dynamic. I’m trying to set the needle (about 200 km/h), but so far only 190+ has worked, everyone writes on the forums that it is not suitable for such speeds, perhaps, but the desire to defeat the speedometer still remains after the previous one. comfortable driving speed is 110-130 km/h then the helmet glass starts to press against your nose)
I'm delighted with the choice so far. I travel around Moscow every day. The dynamics are excellent. Handling is excellent. Vomiting from a traffic light. On the Moscow Ring Road I accelerated to 150 - there was still a reserve, but I didn’t want to go faster, and the wind was in the way - after all, it’s not a sport. I often ride a passenger and don’t even notice that he’s there. The maximum duration in the saddle is 4 hours. I didn’t feel particularly tired. I saw a post somewhere here - a biker rode to Europe on one of these. And I was pleased.
On April 15, I opened the season in April (sorry for the taftology) and this is what it turned out to be for me.
The motorcycle was purchased on April 1 (joking to myself). Hence the nickname of the motorcycle - April.
It was cold, wet, snowing - so I took it from the store on a tow truck. It cost 1500 rubles.
Petrol
Thank God the M50 eats little, because I love to ride and covered 2000 km in a month. Gasoline during this time amounted to 4,276 rubles. I only fill up with BP. I just don't like other gas stations. I use the 95th, although I can do the 92nd because the manual says that it is necessary not lower than the 91st, but I decided that it should be the 95th. Consumption is approximately 5 liters per 100 km.
Pirelli Night Dragon tires - front and rear - 12,000 rubles.
You can't skimp on wheels. There are only two of them and they must confidently hold the road. And since our roads are crap, the issue of tires is very important. After asking experienced bikers and just professionals in their field, it was decided to buy a Pirelli Night Dragon. And I'm very pleased with the tires. Excellent contact with the road, both wet and dry. Several times I had to urgently brake with the front brake (Kamaz after three lanes to the left and nine sharply to the right at a gas station - a classic). The wheel blocked, squealed, but braked confidently. Rubber is very expensive. 12,000 for both cylinders is the cheapest I could find.
Arches - 8200 rub.
Initially, it had miniature arches (one name) with footrests for long-range driving. It was obvious that they would not save my motorcycle and my leg from damage. I decided to install normal, wide arches. And I was right - once I rolled the motorcycle on its side at almost zero speed (I couldn’t keep my balance), the second time I pulled over to the side of the road I didn’t notice the dirt and the motorcycle instantly fell on its side, losing contact with the road.
Pipes TWIN SLASH STAGGERED BLACK: Vance & Hines - RUB 21,502.
Now the motorcycle is equipped with STRAIGHTSHOTS ORIGINAL Vance & Hines (originally installed when purchased) and their sound is wonderful. You can hear me in traffic jams, but people pay attention. But I can’t sit still and I want a little louder and matte. If it weren’t for Russia’s beloved post office, there would already be new ones.
And of course, where would we be without black fabric - also on the way. Branded from Vance & Hines - 2000 rub.
Service — 5450 rub.
I visited the service center once. Change the cylinders, install a reinforced hose, bleed the brakes, change the oil in the gearbox.
Kuryakyn accessories - 6000 rub.
The original handles are not comfortable, not beautiful, not ergonomic. Ordered: GLOSS BLACK ISO-GRIPS + Throttle Bosses
This black pedal on the gas handle should make it a lot easier for me to control the motorcycle, at least I hope so. During a long train ride, your hand gets tired of holding the handle.
Steering weights GLOSS BLACK GRIP END WEIGHT
Well, for beauty - chrome-plated levers WIDE STYLE LEVERS. It seems like they write that they are wider and more comfortable.
Saddle Saddlemen Explorer Special Seat For Suzuki Boulevard M50 - RUB 11,000 .
Number two often complains about the uncomfortable seat, and I must admit I’m not thrilled with the feeling on long trips. It was decided to order this saddle. Also still on the way - thanks to Russian Post! In terms of size, the rear part for the second number is twice as large as the stock seat. 30 cm of comfort for the passenger!
And of course, such a little thing as polishing paste - Blue Job - 600 rubles. Judging by the reviews and videos, it cleans chrome and pipes with a bang.
As soon as all this stuff arrives, I’ll put it up, take a photo, and tell you about it.
