This review will focus on the Honda Tact AF 24, which was produced between 1989 and 1998. Thanks to the suspension and brakes, the scooter is positioned as a comfortable means of transportation over rough terrain. The Honda Tact AF 24 scooter is a continuation of the legendary line, one of the most popular models. The scooter is the progenitor of the AF 30/31, which is essentially a modified version with an improved design and improved construction. Let's take a closer look at the Takt AF 24 model: we'll look at the appearance, technical characteristics, as well as the main advantages and disadvantages.
Appearance
The Honda Tact AF 24 does not have any distinctive features from the scooters of the 90s: a completely plastic body with clips, mounting points for cases, baskets and a trunk. The rectangular headlight is combined with turn signals, and there are removable rear-view mirrors on the steering wheel.

Technical characteristics of Honda Tact AF 24
At the front there is a pendulum lever fork, which has an obvious advantage over a telescopic fork: it is more suitable for riding on rough terrain due to its softness and “swallowing” of bumps. A monoshock absorber with a reinforced spring is installed on the rear wheel.
Average fuel consumption of Tact AF 24 is 1.9 liters per 100 km.
Honda engineers used the latest technology to develop the ideal (for that time) suspension, which will be comfortable when traveling on different roads.
Helpful information! Honda Tact has two versions: with and without Stand Up system. The option is an electric step, which is automatically positioned when the key is turned in the ignition.
Engine
The AF24E single-cylinder two-stroke engine with lobe valve timing and air cooling has a displacement of 50 cm3. Piston stroke – 39 mm, power 6.0 hp. at 6500 rpm. Torque – 6.9 N*m at 6000 rpm.

Note! The same motor was installed on subsequent models of the Tact line - AF 30/31.
The maximum speed, electronically limited, is 60 km/h. The scooter is undergoing tuning; Chinese switches are often installed in it, which remove the restriction. You should not experiment with this: the general “fatigue of the scooter” and the main components can play a cruel joke if you subject the engine to tuning.
Transmission and chassis
The Takt AF 24 is equipped with an automatic variator with an electric starter and kickstarter starting system. The front brakes are drum brakes, the rear brakes are also drum brakes.

Honda Tact AF 24 scooter review
The Honda Tact AF 24 scooter is one of those about which we can say: Japanese 50cc scooters can comfortably carry two passengers. In total, since 1980, the company has released seven series of Honda Tact models. Let's conduct a short review of the Honda Tact AF 24 scooter, consider its technical data and characteristics.
In 1992, manufacturers carried out another reworking of the Honda Tact model range and released the Tact AF 24. The development of a new model was carried out in order to improve the scooter’s cross-country ability on bad roads. This task was successfully completed.
With a platform similar to previous models, but with a redesigned, elongated saddle, the scooter can be safely ridden by two passengers. There is a large capacity under the saddle, which adds convenience when traveling out of town or to the country.
Very reliable, like all Japanese 50cc scooters , the AF 24 is better suited than others for driving on dirt roads thanks to the special design of the front wishbone suspension. The scooter is equipped with a forced 6 hp motor. with petal valve timing and forced air cooling.
In parallel with the basic models, as manufacturers often practice, Japanese 50cc scooters were produced with minor differences. For example, the Honda Tact AF24Stand UP was equipped with an electronic Stand UP system, thanks to which the scooter is automatically placed on the stand.
Technical characteristics of the Tact AF 24 scooter produced in 1992-1995:
655 mm length 640 mm width 995 mm total height 1170 mm base 100 mm ground clearance 725 mm seat height AF24E engine model 1 number of cylinders 2 number of strokes 49 cc displacement 39.0-41.4 mm piston diameter-stroke 7.3 compression ratio 6.0-6500 (hp-rev/m) power 0.70-6000 (N*m-rev/m) torque ignition electric starter 60 km/h rated speed drum brakes 0.8 l-volume oil tank 4.8 l - gas tank volume 66 kg total weight
The AF-24, like many Japanese 50cc scooters, provides the driver with the ability to install panniers and a windshield. In model 24, for safe travel on unpaved roads, you can quickly replace the impellers with wheels of larger diameter, with a wide tread, and thereby increase the mobility of the scooter. Many drivers are pleased with the pleasant technical feature of the AF-24 scooter: smooth acceleration due to the free movement of the throttle handle. Fuel consumption is low - 1.89 liters per 100 km.
Advantages and disadvantages
Advantages:
- Timeless pendant.
- Indestructible front pendulum fork.
- Good load capacity.
- Low cost,
- Uniform and smooth acceleration due to the free movement of the throttle handle.
- Stand Up system (optional).
- It is possible to install wider tires.
- Great for country roads, summer residents and fishermen.
Flaws:
- Outdated design.
- “Fatigue” of plastic, piston Honda Tact – natural wear of parts.
- Weaknesses in the form of oil and gasoline level sensors.
- Drum brake pads front and rear.
- Low speed and mediocre acceleration dynamics.
- Poor capacity - uncomfortable seat.
Comparison of Honda Tact AF 24 and AF 30
By and large, these two models are twins. Honda Tact AF 30 has other years of production (1993-2001), differs in height (L 1655 x W 640 x H 1025, for AF24 – height 995 mm) and improved appearance. The 30th Tact has a little more power by 0.1 horsepower.
Honda Tact AF30 has slightly larger dimensions and allows you to comfortably carry a passenger thanks to the elongated saddle. The difference concerns the location of the fuel tank: in the Takt AF 24 it is located under the driver’s seat, and in the more recent version it is at the bottom of the frame.
The turn signals in the 30th Stroke were separated from the headlights by plastic and became slightly smaller; the brake light was also changed - it became single and concave inward.
Honda Tact AF-30
Honda Tact Af 30-31 is a continuation of the Tact series, a very modern and attractive scooter. Honda Tact AF30 during production in terms of engine and layout was unified with the Honda Dio AF27 model. The tank, instead of the seat tank, was moved under the floor of the scooter, which had a positive effect on weight distribution. The design of the scooter is very stylish and in the spirit of the times. Honda Tact AF30 is a conditionally double-seater for two adults of average build.
Otherwise, the Honda Tact AF30 has the characteristic features of this series - two glove compartments, a lever fork, a large and durable trunk. The Honda Tact AF30, like the Honda Tact AF24, has a modification with an electric footrest, and there is also a version with a front wheel disc brake (Honda Tact S AF31). In terms of further development, the Tact is similar to the Honda Dio AF27 scooter, i.e. You can drive 80-90 km/h without much expense.
Honda Tact AF24 price
Prices for such scooters are constantly falling. You can buy a Honda Tact AF 24 scooter on the Russian used market. The starting price is about 10 thousand rubles for “killed” copies. A scooter in decent condition with documents will cost about 20-25 thousand. You can also order equipment from Japan without having traveled across the Russian Federation. In this case, the price will rise to 40-45 thousand rubles.
