Review of 400 cc motorcycles for beginners and more
Obedient and at the same time playful;
stylish but budget friendly; fast, but safe - the requirements for the first bike can contradict each other. And if the choice has been delayed, and the garage is still empty, you should pay attention to 400 cc motorcycles. Why are they better than their larger cubic-sized counterparts?
- Price. Let's put this indicative first place, because it is by price that we all filter products in any catalogues. Considering that you can take used equipment for training, and at the Japanese auction it will be without mileage in the Russian Federation, the choice in favor of a used “Japanese” is quite obvious.
- Weight. The first trips are also the first falls. The bike, which weighs a maximum of 170 kg, will not cause unnecessary inconvenience both when driving and in the process of lifting iron.
- Character. Yes, motorcycles have their own character, and the 400 models are distinguished by a fairly docile disposition. They do not provoke heroic deeds, but they also give 600cc a head start, accelerating to 200 km/h. quite capable.
- Appearance. The vast majority of four hundred configurations are manufactured by Japanese companies that know a lot not only about technical equipment, but also about creating an attractive, streamlined design.
400 cc motorcycles began to be produced in Japan for the domestic market due to taxation regulations. Their power is no more than 53 hp. Later they gained recognition outside the country due to their low cost and ease of operation. Some Chinese factories have made attempts to repeat the success. However, Japanese bikes command complete trust from the public and remain beyond competition.
Enduro and tourenduro
Imagine a motocross motorcycle with a molded 600 cc engine! The result will be a real monster, angry and rebellious, which is why a similar technique exists, but it is only used by motocross professionals. And regular enduros are usually equipped with smaller engines, around 400 cc. see, because an increase in cubic capacity inevitably entails an increase in mass, which is critical when driving off-road. Attempts to create a large enduro have been made, for example, the Suzuki DR800 S Big, equipped with a huge single-cylinder engine that vibrates like a “Friendship” chainsaw. But this model was not popular, so off-road bikes to this day, with rare exceptions, are equipped with engines of smaller capacity.
If you are not interested in even the best road motorcycles, but in your dreams you see endless steppes and mountain paths, you should pay attention to the tourenduro. Motorcycles of this class are usually distinguished by their large weight, powerful power units and large size, but there are also lightweight fighters among them
The most popular models are the Honda XL600V Transalp (there are also motorcycles with 650 cc and 700 cc engines) and the Kawasaki Versys 650. The Chinese from CFMoto have also released their competitor into the ring, offering the public the CFMoto 650MT model. But you can only choose a bike “for yourself” and understand exactly how many cubes you need through experience.
The best 400cc motorcycles for sports
The correct choice of the “iron horse” occupies an important place in teaching motorsports. It should be light and dynamic. And if you don’t believe in the capabilities of 250 cc sports bikes, you should pay attention to these “four hundred”:
- Honda CB 400 SF - according to owner reviews, this bike is easy to ride and reliable. It's not scary to ride it for the first time and it's easy to learn how to operate it. The CB 400 SF is equipped with a 4-cylinder 16-valve engine, the operation of which accelerates the design to 190 km/h. It is this model that is used for riding training in many motorcycle schools in Japan. The high-revving engine (9500-11000 rpm) is liquid cooled, has dual brakes at the front and a dual shock absorber at the rear. All this makes even daring driving quite confident and safe.
- Honda CBR 400 RR - the bike was produced from 1987 to 1999 and was a successor to the cross-country Honda CBR400 Aero. However, even today the exterior looks quite modern. “Adult” representatives, namely those that left the assembly line before 1993, produce 59 horsepower. Post-93 versions were produced according to updated Japanese legislation and provide 53 hp. Powering the bike is a 4-cylinder engine. The speed that can be reached is 180 km/h. Acceleration to 100 occurs in 4.5 seconds.
- Honda 400 X is a 400cc sports touring motorcycle introduced in March 2013. The two-cylinder engine produces 46 hp. and consumes 3.5 liters of gasoline per 100 km. Every year this Honda is updated, receiving upgrades in performance and appearance. In 2016, the bike is equipped with a higher windshield, adjustable suspension and steering wheel, as well as LED optics. Another year later, the exhaust system was improved here. Last updated March 22, 2019. Some of the changes: the ABS system has been improved, the steering angle has been increased by 6 degrees, the LCD panel now has clear visibility. The windshield has become 20 mm longer. The 400 X is available in two colors: Grand Prix red and matte black metallic.
The best 600cc sport bikes
So, you already have experience and want to subjugate a more powerful bike. In this case, here are the best 600 cc motorcycles that will allow you to quickly get used to it and start racing confidently in the city, outside the city and showing miracles on the track, without risk to others.
And here are these stories:
- Kawasaki ZX6R - appeared in 2000, the design is very similar to the ZX9R, the power is equal to the Triumph, but it is more aggressive in driving - it picks up speed aggressively, is distinguished by long gears, more powerful brakes and a pronounced sporty position. In 2003, modification 636 appeared and, although the design remained familiar, the engine became even more powerful - 120 hp. Many bikers consider it really cool, and the cost remains quite reasonable;
- Honda CBR 600 RR is equipped with a 4-cylinder power plant, a 6-speed transmission and is capable of accelerating to 100 km/h in 3 – 4 seconds. The CBR 600 RR generation engines were developed until 2008 and are now capable of producing 118 hp;
- Suzuki GSX-R600 is a distinct sports bike with a top speed of 259 km/h. In appearance it is very reminiscent of the GSX-R1000 - a clearly visible “broken” design of the plastic body kit. It is equipped with a 4-cylinder engine, with a fuel consumption of 6 liters per 100 km;
- Suzuki GSXR 600 K1-k3 is another good option. The engine produces 115 hp, which allows it to accelerate to a speed of 263 km/h. It has a streamlined oval shape and is almost 7 kg lighter than the CBR, which has a positive effect on handling;
- Yamaha YZF-R6 is a Japanese legend, famous throughout the world. The latest version appeared in 2017 and boasted better aerodynamics, modern traction control and ABS. Accelerates to 100 km/h in 3 – 4 seconds, maximum speed is 260 km/h. What is important is that it takes turns very well (not smooth, but sharp turns) due to convenient controls and high-quality brakes.
It’s difficult to say unequivocally which bike is better. However, experts are still inclined to think that this is a Yamaha. Moreover, not only for athletes but also for those who are just improving the technique of driving such powerful cars.
Road 400 cc motorcycles for the city and travel
Lightweight, small-capacity bikes are an excellent solution not only for sports, but also for city trips and even long trips.
This is proven by the TOP road models:
- Yamaha XJR 400 is a classic bike equipped with a 4-cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled engine. Over the 16 years that the model was produced, it went through a series of restylings. During this time, the torque indicator was increased to 38 Nm, a digital instrument panel was added, the gas tank volume was increased to 20 liters, and an immobilizer was added. Production ended with the introduction of new environmental standards, which the model no longer complied with. However, ready-made versions continue to be in demand, both at home and in the CIS countries.
- Yamaha Drag Star 400 is a cruiser with a 2-cylinder 4-stroke engine, cardan drive and 5-speed gearbox. It has a smooth ride and accelerates to one hundred in 11.2 seconds. At Japanese auctions you can also find lots with automatic transmissions. The touring Yamaha is designed for confident riding without aggression or super speed. Can accelerate to 135 km/h. This is a fairly economical version, consuming 2.28 liters. fuel every 100 km. It is distinguished by maneuverability due to the center of gravity shifted downwards and low weight (240 kg).
- Suzuki Gladius 400 is a naked bike with an elegant, discreet exterior. Equipped with a 4-stroke engine, ABS system, ISC (start at low temperatures), 6-speed gearbox, classic chain drive and friction clutch discs. Weighing 206 kg, the model consumes 2.5 liters of fuel per hundred. The triangular frame guarantees balance and confident handling. And the driver will need 5.6 seconds to accelerate the “iron horse” to hundreds. The manufacturer also took care of the passenger by equipping the seat with a comfortable handrail.
- Suzuki GSR 400 - after releasing the GSR 600 for export, Suzuki began producing a 400 cc motorcycle with similar characteristics, but for the domestic market. Equipped with an injector, 16-liter gas tank, aluminum frame, adjustable suspension. The 4-stroke engine has 4 cylinders and liquid cooling. The GSR 400 looks larger and more aggressive than its siblings, and is suitable for even tall drivers. Reliable and timely stopping is ensured by 4-piston brakes.
- Kawasaki ER-4N is a road naked version that is aesthetically and technically attractive. Allows you to drive at speeds up to 170 km/h. Considering the absence of a windshield, this is quite enough to make the driver feel comfortable. Equipped with a chain drive, injector, digital ignition, 15-liter gas tank, steel frame. In 5.5 seconds you can accelerate to hundreds. Due to its comfortable fit, the 209-kilogram road bike is suitable both for moving around the city and for long trips.
Which 600cc motorcycle is good for a beginner?
With comfort and no surprises - these are the requirements that novice motorcyclists make when purchasing. Typically, this behavior is expected from small-capacity equipment. As for 600 cc motorcycles, according to experienced bikers and instructors, they are the limit for a beginner, and then only some not the most aggressive models:
- Honda Hornet CB 600 is a comfortable and stylish bike with a sports CBR 600 engine, a 6-speed gearbox and 102 horsepower. It is somewhat inferior in characteristics to its sports brother, but it listens perfectly to a rider, even one who is not very experienced.
- Yamaha FZ6 - like the previous model, at its heart lies the derated engine of its sports brother, in this case the YZF-R6. Suitable for both sports and tourism. It has laconic, streamlined shapes.
About popularity
Due to the fact that for a relatively low price you can become the owner of a good device, 400 cc motorcycles have been and remain popular in Russia and the former Soviet Union. Old age does not bother anyone, because manufacturing countries monitor the quality of manufactured equipment. In the case of Japan, 400 cc motorcycles are completely intended exclusively for the domestic market. This is due to the peculiarities of taxation. For example, the Yamaha SR 400 motorcycle was first released in 1978 in two versions: 400 and 500 cc, for the domestic market and for export, respectively. The difference between the two motorcycles, in addition to the cubic capacity, was also in the piston stroke.
But it is impossible to find an old Chinese motorcycle of 400 cc: in this country, two-wheeled vehicles with an engine capacity of more than 250 cm 3 are prohibited, and Chinese manufacturers produce large cubic capacity exclusively for export. 400 cc Chinese devices began to appear on the wave of popularity among motorcyclists, especially beginners, of this engine size.
400 cc motorcycles are the most affordable in the secondary market, with the possible exception of Chinese motorcycles. All 400 Japanese companies - Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki - are intended exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, which is due to the peculiarities of the Japanese tax system.
Due to their low price, used 400 cc motorcycles are very common in the countries of the former USSR, and Chinese motorcycle manufacturers have recently been actively competing with used “Japanese” ones, releasing more and more new models and improving quality.
Thanks to the opportunity to become the owner of a good 400 cc motorcycle for a reasonable amount (currently about one hundred thousand rubles), this category of bikes is always popular, especially among beginners who are just about to join the motorcycle ranks. Not everyone is embarrassed by the advanced age of most devices and possible problems with finding spare parts and consumables.
However, there are 400s that are quite recent. So, relatively recently, one of my friends became the owner of an excellent retro bike, a 2005 Honda CB400SS, and we managed to find a motorcycle in perfect condition and with a real mileage of about five thousand kilometers.
True, much more often 400 cc motorcycles sold on the secondary market were produced back in the 90s, and 20-year-old bikes are not uncommon. How many owners they have already had, and in what circle the odometer goes is unknown, and it will never be possible to find out, but not everyone is confused by this. There is no way to find out the mileage of a motorcycle that arrived from Japan - this is only possible if the bike arrived from the USA, thanks to the availability of special services.
When buying a 400cc motorcycle, you need to inspect it very carefully. These types of motorcycles are bought mainly by beginners and sold after riding for a season or two in order to increase the capacity. Need I say that not all of the numerous owners follow them as they should, knowing that they will still sell the motorcycle in a year? Many, at best, change the engine oil, so the buyer has a good chance of running into a trashed bike. And if you are planning to buy a 400, then you are most likely a beginner. And if you are a beginner, then it is likely that you do not yet have deep knowledge of motorcycles, and you are unlikely to be able to really assess the condition of the bike. In this case, the best solution would be to take a professional mechanic, or at least an experienced motorcyclist friend, with you for an inspection.
But recently, Chinese motorcycle manufacturers and their dealers are stepping on the heels of various motorcycle dealerships selling used Japanese motorcycles, and the market is gradually filling up with cheap Chinese motorcycles. By law, the operation of motorcycles with engines larger than 250 cc is prohibited in China, but for other countries the Chinese make 400 cc and even 600 cc motorcycles. A striking example is the Lifan LF400, which at one time was sold in Russia and Ukraine, and continues to be sold in the Russian Federation to this day, having changed its assembly location to Zhukovsky in the Moscow region, and its name to Stels 400 Cruiser. In fact, this motorcycle is a copy of the 400 cc version of the Yamaha Virago from the 90s, but since the model was very successful, thanks to the hardworking Chinese comrades, it received a second life and is still in production.
Thus, 400 cc motorcycles, with rare exceptions, are either Japanese or Chinese made. Of course, everyone will prefer a “Japanese” one, but there is one caveat - for the same amount you can buy either a new Chinese bike or a 15-20-year-old Japanese one. And here doubts creep in among many - wouldn’t a brand new motorcycle made in China be better than a Japanese one, tortured by a long and difficult life, which has already put many, many thousands of kilometers on its wheels?
Here we can say the following. If you are not very knowledgeable about motorcycles and want to buy a 400 cc motorcycle not for reasons of cheapness, but because you don’t want to take risks by jumping straight onto a powerful bike, it makes sense to pay attention to Chinese motorcycles. The new motorcycle will be under warranty, and it is unlikely to give you a reason to be indignant at its quality - the stereotypes that everything Chinese is bad are no longer relevant for a long time. In a year or two, you will still want to buy a more powerful motorcycle, and these few years a normal Chinese bike will most likely run without any technical problems. My Lifan LF250 drove under me without a single breakdown for two years, and since then it has been driving under my friend for three years. And so far it has never broken down, even over a small thing, by the way.
But any new equipment becomes cheaper very quickly, especially Chinese ones, and when selling a motorcycle after a year or two, you can easily lose a third of the price, and it will take a long time to sell - many are distrustful of Chinese motorcycles, which makes them not very liquid on the secondary market. In that case, you might want to consider buying a used Japanese-made 400cc motorcycle. This, of course, will also be a lottery, just like when buying a “Chinese”, and there will be no guarantee for the motorcycle. But a 15-year-old Japanese bike will not lose value in a year or two, and in any case it will be easier to sell than a “Chinese” one. True, the choice of an old motorcycle must be approached with the utmost responsibility, and, as stated above, it would not be a bad idea to choose a purchase from an experienced motorcycle mechanic, since many motorcycle services now offer a similar service for a fairly modest fee. Well, what to choose - a new Chinese 400 cc motorcycle, or a heavily used Japanese one - is up to you to decide, based on your own conditions and requirements.

Why they are loved
Apart from the price, 400cc bikes have one more feature. This is the appearance. As mentioned above, Japanese models of this volume were produced mainly for the domestic market of the country, and many models have modifications with this volume, for example, the same Honda Bros was also produced as a 650 cc. Low gasoline consumption (from 4 liters per 100 km when driving on the highway, depending on weather conditions and speed) will allow you to learn to drive without spending too much on fuel. But another important plus is the weight. 400cc motorcycles weigh on average 150-180 kg. There are no motorcyclists who do not fall, therefore (especially for girls), you need to ride a motorcycle that a person is able to lift from the road. In addition, there are times when you need to roll the bike (this is not always a breakdown, sometimes you can, for example, “bypass” a traffic jam).
Choosing a 600 cc model for a beginner
Here we need to make a small reservation - if you have never ridden motorcycles before, then there is no question of any bike for a beginner with such power. It’s another matter if you already have some experience driving weaker models (at least basic training at a driving school). It is worth noting that experienced specialists have more than once encountered a situation where an experienced biker, having ridden several hundred kilometers on a 600 cc, switched to a less powerful model. And we are talking here not about ordinary “everyday” bikers, but about experienced riders.
But what to do if you are going to try your hand at this field? First, decide why you need a bike of such power. It is definitely not suitable for driving around the city or commuting to work. But for motorsports or traveling around the country it’s fine. So, 600 cc motorcycles for a beginner should be comfortable and have no “surprises”. Moreover, you can not take all models, but only the most low-power and non-aggressive ones.
Therefore, you will have to choose from:
- Honda Hornet CB 600 - comfort, style and the presence of the popular CBR 600 sports engine. 6-speed gearbox, 102 hp. Yes, in terms of its characteristics it is inferior to its sports counterpart, but it is important to remember that it is easier to drive, and it will not be driven by a professional;
- Yamaha FZ6 is the second option, although it is very similar to the previous bike (even with the presence of a derated engine, albeit of a different model - YZF-R6). It is a little more powerful and is used not only for tourism, but also for sports. The main features are a streamlined, laconic design.
This is where the beginner's choice ends.
Ideal for beginners
A sane person would never choose a motorcycle with a large cubic capacity as his first “horse”. This technique not only accelerates very, very quickly (1-2.8 seconds to one hundred kilometers for a 600 cc bike), but also has sharp traction and, of course, excellent brakes. It is worth adding to this that at speed any maneuver must be precisely measured, so among beginners on powerful motorcycles it is not uncommon to fall due to loss of control or due to “overdoing the brakes.”
400cc motorcycles are ideal for beginners. Someone will say that such a volume is small, you will quickly get bored and want something bigger, and they will be wrong, because a 400 cc machine can easily “make” any car and accelerates to two hundred kilometers per hour. But in racing, the skill of the pilot is more important than the power of the engine. But even if a novice motorcyclist sensibly decides not to ride his 600 until he gets comfortable with the controls, nothing insures him against various incidents on the road, where his smart head must also have the right reflexes that will protect him from serious injuries. Without the skills to unlock the potential of the 400cc, is there any point in going for something bigger?
Enduro and motards
For the enduro class, 400cc is a serious cubic capacity and is by no means intended for beginners. Many experienced lovers of off-road riding opt for 250cc models, which are less heavy and capable of cheerfully mischief in the forest or in the field. Motards in this regard differ from them only in the place of operation - in the city instead of off-road.
Examples
- Honda XR400. A legendary motorcycle with absolutely deserved fame. It seems that it can only be broken intentionally. It was produced in two versions, motard and enduro.
- Suzuki DR-Z400. A direct analogue and competitor, it also had several modifications.
- Yamaha WR400F. Powerful hard enduro for experienced off-road conquerors. Not suitable for beginners due to its significant mass and explosive nature.
State of the art
400cc Japanese motorcycles are mostly oldies, like the Honda Bros 400, a model with a cool, aggressive design and a twin-cylinder V-twin engine, produced from 1988 to 1992. Thus, the Japanese “four hundred” may already be well over twenty, and with proper care the equipment can last longer, but who can guarantee that the former owner took good care of his bike? There are also relatively new models, for example, the Honda CB400SS, released in 2005, but buying used equipment is always a kind of lottery: it is almost never possible to find out what the mileage is, what circle the odometer is on, how many owners there were and how the device was serviced. Many careless drivers do not consider it necessary to properly monitor their equipment, knowing that they will sell it in a couple of seasons, so if you do not understand motorcycle equipment, you need to go with a mechanic for an inspection - many services provide such a service for a small fee, or at least Take an experienced motorcyclist friend with you.
Chinese models 600 cc
Let’s say you need a bike exclusively for the city, and you don’t plan to show “character” on a country road, or even go outside the city. In this case, you can take a look at the 600 cc motorcycles produced in China.
And here the choice will be very interesting and unusual, since there are no original Chinese models of such power. There are only two Italian options, which were purchased by Chinese concerns. The result was modern design bikes with 80 hp. One has a 4-cylinder engine, the other has only 2. The maximum speed does not exceed 180 km/h, which is ideal for the city. However, the handling of such motorcycles at maximum permissible speeds leaves much to be desired. However, girls can easily cope with them at medium speed.
However, in any case, the choice of motorcycle should depend not on the brand, model and prestige of the company that produces the bikes, but on the qualities of the driver himself. The classic, sports or road version requires some experience and a solid assessment of your own capabilities.
About the price
Age is the main drawback of 400 cc horses, and this creates a problem in finding spare parts. On the other hand, Chinese manufacturers, seeing a gold mine in this cubic capacity, began to produce models for export, especially for Russia and the CIS countries. A Chinese motorcycle, the 400 cc Lifan LF, which is now produced in the Moscow region, in the city of Zhukovsky, and is called the Stels 400 Cruiser, has become a completely successful model. The domestic company Stels quite successfully entered the market by releasing its 400cc motorcycle, the price also does not stand out from the general price in this niche, and amounts to 100-150 thousand for a new device. In fact, the Stels Cruiser and Lifan LF are copies of the Yamaha Virago, a very successful model that was produced in the nineties and received a new life thanks to the Chinese auto industry.
Cruisers and choppers
The typical cruiser is a heavy and archaic bike, so 400cc. see, it’s simply not enough to carry such a weight while maintaining dynamics. At the same time, such models are not too different in size from their heavier and more powerful counterparts. Their main advantage is the price! But don’t forget that all this beauty moves in space very slowly, and the presence of a passenger kills the last remnants of accelerating dynamics.
Examples
- Yamaha XVS 400 Drag Star . Unified with the 650cc version in many areas. It looks stylish and drives slowly. It has a reliable cardan drive instead of a chain drive, typical of most 400s.
- Yamaha XV 400 Virago . The ancestor of the “Drag Star”, structurally similar in many ways, but differing in some way towards road bikes. The landing is straight, like on a classic. The main advantages are light weight and low price on the secondary market.
- Honda Steed 400 in one modification or another. In many respects it is unified with the Steed 600, and partly with the VT 400 Shadow. Loved by bikers around the world for its stylish appearance, inspired by the Harley-Davidson Softail.
- Honda VT400 Shadow . A cousin of the Steed, and like it, it is equipped with a chain drive. It exists in different modifications, differing mainly in appearance.
- Kawasaki VN400 Vulcan . Not the most frequent guest in Russia. A solid average in all respects.
- Kawasaki EN400 . A peculiar device with an in-line “two” instead of the classic V-twin. Equipped with a belt drive, just like some Harley.
- Kawasaki ZL400 Eliminator . An even rarer motorcycle. The engine is a slightly derated inline-four from the classic. Loves high speeds, is voracious, reaches speeds of up to 180 km/h. Spare parts are very difficult to find, since the model was discontinued a long time ago.
- Suzuki VS400 Intruder . A reliable and durable motorcycle, for the maintenance of which it is advisable to be an octopus. Because otherwise, it will be very difficult to perform some service operations.
- Suzuki LS400 Savage . An archaic 1-cylinder cruiser with sluggish acceleration dynamics. But it is very light and easy to operate. There are also fresh copies, however, already under the name Suzuki Boulevard S40.
- Lifan LF400 . A good Chinese 400cc motorcycle, structurally an almost exact copy of the Yamaha 400 Virago. In Russia it was also sold under the name Stels 400 Cruiser, which differed from the Lifan in that it was assembled in Russia instead of in China.
China vs Japan
So, to summarize, 400cc motorcycles can be either Japanese or Chinese (let’s leave out rare exceptions). The motorcyclist is faced with a choice: either a new Chinese or an old Japanese, which is better? There is no clear answer here. Buying Chinese equipment is a lottery, because this country can be called a record holder for the frequency of factory defects. Perhaps the owner is lucky, and the same Lifan runs without breakdowns for the first few years, while for someone else the same model may break down in a couple of weeks. Experienced motorcyclists advise overhauling a Chinese motorcycle immediately after purchase, eliminating assembly errors, if any, and replacing low-quality parts, and only then ride. In this case, the equipment will work properly. In addition, the owner can rely on a guarantee, which, of course, no one will give when buying used equipment.
Japanese motorcycles that are in their second or even third decade may also turn out to be “young” only on the outside. If the motorcycle was in good hands, it will never let you down and will become a reliable companion. If you spend your two-wheeled life without proper care, it will be a real torment for the new owner, especially considering that for many models it is now very difficult to get parts.
Total
It's not that complicated, right? Thanks to the huge selection of used equipment, 400cc motorcycles remain popular, and will not lose it as long as they are made in Japan. For most novice motorcyclists, this capacity will be optimal , especially if they are not planning long trips over many thousands of kilometers. And only later, when you want more volume, you can always sell the bike and buy another, fondly remembering your “400”, which taught you everything you know.
And the years go by, or about the sale of “Asians”
Sooner or later, the motorcyclist will have a desire to change his vehicle, and the bike will need to be sold. Despite the fact that a new 400 cc Chinese motorcycle will cost the same as an old Japanese motorcycle when purchased, after two or three years it will lose a lot in price. The cost of motorcycles is falling quickly, especially for Chinese vehicles. Selling your Chinese horse, even after knocking off a third of the original price, can be difficult, because people are distrustful of the Chinese auto industry.
A little more about newcomers
A 400cc motorcycle is the golden mean, but still not a toy. As mentioned above, it will give a car a head start and can reach speeds of up to two hundred kilometers per hour, but at the same time the bike is quite calm and will forgive a beginner some mistakes. However, if you have very little driving experience, you need to treat a motorcycle in this group with caution and be aware that this is far from a moped. Critical situations on the road do happen; these can be caused not only by the actions of other drivers, but also by surface unevenness. Even in a powerful car, overpressuring the gas or pressing the brake too sharply will generally only lead to financial losses - dented bumpers, fenders, etc., and reflexively pressing the front brake on a motorcycle can lead to a hospital bed. Therefore, before choosing a motorcycle, you need to present clear requirements to it, and not look at the power, choosing something “cooler” in the absence of knowledge and skills aimed at realizing the potential of the bike.
Top best 400 cc motorcycles, reviews and model overview
Remember your first bike? How did it fly, what mileage, what color? Remember how he looked at you - like a baby? Do you remember how often he sang to you in the garage? How bored were you alone in winter? No matter how much water passes under the bridge, no matter how many kilometers you travel, no matter how many motorcycles you change, you will always, always remember your first motorcycle.
So, I'm a poor, horseless loser who is considering six models as contenders for his first motorcycle.
