When purchasing a Lada Vesta car, the buyer receives a standard security system installed as part of the basic configuration of the car. Unlike more expensive analogues, it does not have autostart and the ability to connect additional equipment. The standard Lada Vesta alarm system copes with its main task successfully - it prevents entry into the car interior, notifying others with a loud signal.
Lada Vesta
↑ Lada Vesta: does it need an alarm system?
Lada Vesta is one of the newest models of the largest domestic automaker. Among its advantages, it also has a built-in alarm. But not all owners of this vehicle are satisfied with the operation of the integrated device, what kind of maintenance it requires and how well it protects the car from modern hacking methods.
On the other hand, since the Lada Vesta is an affordable budget model, buying a top-level alarm system for it would be a waste of money. Therefore, mid-level models are considered the most reasonable option. Their characteristics usually include feedback, GPS, autostart, and protection against signal decryption. Moreover, the price rarely significantly exceeds 10 thousand rubles.
StarLine E66 2CAN+2LIN ECO — 7,750 rub.
Car alarms from StarLine are undoubtedly worthy of attention. With a recommended price of less than 8,000 rubles, we are offered a good security system of the latest sixth generation, which has full support for working with CAN and LIN wiring (so Lad owners are not deprived). Moreover, the capabilities of the sixth generation include indirect engine start blocking via a digital bus, and “smart” bypass of the standard immobilizer without any additional bypassers.
You will also have to pay about 6,000 rubles for installation. In total, from StarLine for 14,000 you can get functionality similar to Pandora. You will also have to pay extra for autostart and GPS.
↑ Characteristics of standard alarm
Lada Vesta is one of those cars that the manufacturer equips with an alarm system on the assembly line. Thanks to this, immediately after purchase, the buyer can count on his vehicle being protected until he decides to change the device to something else.
The standard alarm system for this brand of car has a number of advantages, which is why many of its owners prefer not to change the device to another. These advantages are simple, but they allow you to avoid petty thefts and attempted theft by not very professional attackers. They include:
- the presence of an alarm system on every vehicle, even in the cheapest configuration;
- ease of control using function buttons on the key fob;
- protection against most types of intrusion attempts.
But there are still some drawbacks, due to which some Lada owners prefer installing other alarm models. We are talking, in particular, about:
- lack of feedback from the owner;
- unable to start automatically.
Since most modern devices have these functions, not all drivers are happy about their absence.
AvtoOko24 Vesta/Xray/Renault-Connect — 8500 with installation
The Connect line products from AvtoOko24, designed specifically for installation on Lada Vesta, XRay and Renault Logan2, Duster2, Sandero2, definitely deserve your attention. Unlike other car alarms, the system does not have a key fob. It is replaced by the car's standard key fob. After installing the system on the car, all its functions are added to the ability to autostart by triple pressing the “Close” button. All interaction with the system occurs using an application on a mobile phone. And it's convenient! You can leave your car keys anywhere, and a modern person always has a mobile phone at hand. The system is fully integrated into the car's standard anti-theft system, adding additional functionality to monitor the integrity of the car, from a light blow to the body and evacuation to tracking the current position of the car with an accuracy of several meters. This system does not have an additional radio channel with a dialog code like StarLine and Pandora. Instead, encrypted exchange over the Internet is used, as is done in banking transactions.
Such service and security functions will cost the “market giants” 20-25 thousand with installation. What do we get for 8500 with installation? Let's take a closer look at Vesta-Connect.
For such a price we are offered very rich functionality, namely:
- connecting the connector-to-connector system in 30 minutes without disturbing the car’s standard wiring and special tools
- GPS/Glonass monitoring
- full synchronization with the standard security system, central locking control from any distance
- built-in digital sensor to notify the owner about theft, attempted evacuation, wheel theft, or impacts to the car body
- sound and push notifications to a smartphone in case of alarming events
- display of the main list of parameters, registration, decoding and resetting of engine error codes
- control of engine blocking and trunk opening
- 2 SIM cards: built-in SIM chip and user SIM card
- the system will select the best of all currently available cellular operators without roaming and subscription fees
- work under the same conditions in Russia, the CIS and Europe
- The presence of a built-in battery will allow the system to function for 12 hours in case the standard battery is disconnected
- support iOS, Android
- the system can be linked to several mobile phones
- possibility of dismantling the system. The car's wiring will remain in its original form, and no one will be able to find fault with its condition.
So, by installing the system ourselves, we get secure two-way communication between the standard car security system and the application on the phone. While maintaining control from the standard alarm key fob, it becomes possible to control and receive notifications from the standard security system in the application on the phone. The location of the vehicle is always available on the map in the application. All routes are saved on a secure server for a month and can be displayed in the user’s application at any time. The system works not only in Russia, but throughout Europe without the need to change the SIM card.
PS The article was written in the 3rd week after the introduction of the self-isolation regime in Russia. So the ability to install a system without specialized skills and tools is especially valuable.

↑ Models of the middle price segment
Most Lada Vesta owners prefer mid-price segment models to all alarm systems. They provide the necessary protective functions without having to pay extra for the brand.
These models include primarily:
- Jaguar ez 7;
- Red Scorpio Premium a8;
- Starline a61 Dialog;
- Pandora dx 50.
Each of them has its own important features.
↑ Jaguar ez-7
The Jaguar ez-7 alarm system is valued by car owners because it has additional protection for the control unit, both from interference and from hacking. It is almost impossible to intercept a signal from this model. Its price, at the same time, is extremely affordable - about 8 thousand rubles.
↑ Red scorpio premium a8
The main features of the Red scorpio premium a8 are its range and additional sensor protection from interference. This security complex receives and transmits signals over a distance of up to 2 km. Its modern design is also attractive.
↑ Starline a61 dialog
Starline a61 dialog is considered one of the most burglar-proof alarm systems. To log in, you must use a unique 128-bit security key. It is possible to increase the signal transmission distance to 1.8 km even in a densely built environment. The disadvantage is the lack of autostart.
↑ Pandora dx 50
The Pandora dx 50 model is considered one of the most successful solutions not only for Lada Vesta, but also for all cars of this brand. This is due to the fact that it supports their LIN buses and has a built-in keyless bypass for their various variants. This alarm system has auto-start and can operate even at -50 degrees.
Selecting an alarm kit
All complexes are divided into 3 large categories:
- Budget option - sound, light and blocking types;
- Mid-price segment models – have feedback and autostart functions;
- Premium – have a connection with a satellite, which makes it possible to control the location of the car via a PC, tablet or phone.
In general, installing a budget version is impractical, since Vesta already has one from the factory. Premium class alarms are usually purchased for long-lasting and prestigious cars. This means that the most likely option will be an alarm from the middle price category, the representatives of which are worth considering in more detail.
↑ Alarm system with auto start
Most Lada Vesta owners prefer to change the standard device, but the alarm system with auto start. It is so called because it can be used to control the ignition of a car while being at a certain distance from it. Thanks to this, the car is ready to drive by the time the owner gets into it.
The use of this type of alarm, in addition to general comfort, has a number of advantages. The main ones are:
- thanks to the presence of such a security complex, the owner of the vehicle can always be aware of its current condition - all information is displayed on the key fob;
- the car can be started even before the driver gets into it, and the distance can be quite large, which is important for warming up the engine in the cold season;
- the alarm itself determines the reason for the alarm and sends data to the owner, which saves him from the need to go and check the situation in the event of a false alarm.
Important! Some models of such devices have GPS modules that allow you to search for a car via satellite.
Of course, despite a number of such advantages, there are also some negative aspects. Any technology has its drawbacks, and for an alarm system with auto start they are as follows:
- it sends a signal that can be read using special decryption devices that give complete control over the device to attackers;
- due to accidental pressing of buttons, car doors can open when the owner is at a sufficiently large distance and cannot notice it;
- Such alarms are not always tolerant of low temperatures, and failures in winter are not so rare with cheap models.
But, despite all the shortcomings, the comfort of using protection with auto start outweighs the majority of vehicle owners.
Pandora DX 9X — 9,950 rub.
The bestseller from the Kaluga company became such a bestseller for a reason. On the one hand, there are no excessive bells and whistles that this company loves so much and which not everyone needs, and without them the price was made very attractive. On the other hand, everything you need is there: a long-range key fob with a dialog code, Bluetooth support, which allows you not to dance around the car, forgetting the keys with this same key fob in it: you can open it from your phone. Moreover, although this is not full-fledged telematics (communication only works in a short range), even so the system allows full control via Bluetooth, including autostart control and receiving event history.
You will have to pay about 6-7 thousand more for installation.
In total, for 17,000 rubles we get a key fob with two-way communication, control of the central locking via an application via Bluetooth, optionally (for an additional fee) you can do autostart from the application and the key fob. GPS is optional and at an additional cost.
↑ Do-it-yourself alarm installation
Along with the purchase of the device itself at a car dealership, in the vast majority of cases, the consumer receives detailed instructions for installing and using a car alarm. Thanks to this, you can put it on a vehicle without resorting to outside help.
Correct installation of an alarm system on a Lada Vesta car requires consistent actions. First you need to decide what a standard security system consists of. Typically, upon purchase, the car owner receives:
- alarm control unit;
- sensors that record vehicle movement parameters, impacts on them or sounds made;
- signal transmitter from the device to the key fob and back;
- the remote control itself;
- all necessary wires and connecting elements.
It is important that all of the listed components of the alarm are connected as needed. To do this, they resort to the instructions in the instructions.
Important! Failure to comply with the installation instructions will invalidate the warranty card.
First of all, remove all elements from the car that interfere with access to the connection points. In most cases, these are small parts of the plastic interior trim, which will then need to be installed back.
At the second stage of installation, all necessary wiring is laid. The control unit is installed behind the radio and connected to power via a twelve-volt red cable. A white wire is connected to the alarm button, which allows you to connect light sensors. I use terminals to connect the wiring.
When connecting each unit, it is necessary to check its functionality. Only after it has been established that the alarm system is working as expected, can the appearance of the car be returned to its original state.
The main advantage of self-installation is its low cost.
Alarm at the dealer
In fact, the Lada Vesta is equipped with an alarm system from the factory, starting with the basic Classic configuration, which is indicated in the equipment list. However, not all car owners know about this. In addition, in the reviews, some of them mention that they were interested in this issue and the manager at the salon directly told them that there was no alarm on the car, while simultaneously offering installation on site.
A visual demonstration of Vesta’s standard alarm system:
Vesta has an alarm system, but it is far from a standard in terms of car protection. As the owners note, it will still save you from illegal entry into the luggage compartment or interior of the Vesta (most likely), but it will in no way prevent the removal of the wheels.
You can order an alarm system for Vesta from a dealer, but it will not be cheap.
As practice shows, many still refuse to install an alarm system at a dealer, citing the price, which ranges around 19,000 rubles, including installation. In response, OD scares new owners by removing the car from warranty, however, this is a controversial issue.
↑ Advice from professionals
In order for an alarm installed by yourself to work for a long time and successfully, it is worth using the advice that professional car repair shop workers give car owners:
- You should always use only special terminals to secure wiring;
- In no case should you change the device circuit, as this will make it impossible to obtain warranty service;
- tools for work must be prepared in advance, since installation work is performed in one go.
Three simple rules that will save you from unnecessary expenses and headaches.
Lada Vesta Russian Greyhound › Logbook › Installation of StarLine A93. Questions and Comments
Choosing the best satellite alarm for a car
Yesterday I installed a StarLine A93 CAN+LIN alarm. There were no questions regarding installation; I did everything according to the installation cards from the Starline website. I received iKey via mail. Autostart works adequately. Now to some questions and recommendations, after my own experience of installing this alarm system on our Car. Users CapNemo009 and Atom308 helped me install the blog
1) Is it possible to install a signaling system without a CAN module? Yes you can. If you are choosing a signaling system for yourself, but you do not need autostart, and your budget is cut, then you can buy a signaling device of a more budget class, without support for CAN modules, but always with an interactive code. But then everything will have to be connected analogue. And this is a long time, and there are a lot of wires. With a canal connection it is much easier and faster. Moreover, if you do everything wisely, it will take you the whole day. Hide all the wires in the corrugation, secure all the corrugations with zip ties and electrical tape. Make the new wire layouts as similar as possible to what they came from the factory.
2) It is not necessary to flash the signaling unit itself. All service settings can be made via the Key Fob. But the CAN+LIN interface itself must be flashed. And then add iKEy firmware for autostart.
3) The Kanbus signal does not open the trunk. It is necessary to additionally sculpt the relay. The diagram is below.
4) In order to coordinate the alarm key fob and the starline, you must enable the SLAVE mode. Enablement occurs in the service settings plate. Numbered 11, 17, 22 and 23. Thanks to this, it will be possible to disarm and arm from the key fob. And the alarm system will also immediately automatically see all these actions. We pressed security on the standard key fob and the starline immediately went into security. Disarmed with the standard key fob - Starline disarmed. Before this there was constant confusion. The standard key fob was disarmed, the Starline was in security mode. I had to click 2 key fobs. Now it's much more convenient. The function of the Starline key fob is to perform autostart, inform about alarms, and monitor the condition of the car.
5) For those who have not previously dealt with autorun, it will be interesting what it is and how it works. I spent the whole evening yesterday until I understood the logic of the work. If you have a car with automatic transmission, then it’s easier for you. Autostart will always work. But I have a manual transmission. As I previously assumed, if the handbrake switch is connected to the signaling system, then the automatic start will work according to my desire. But no! In order for the car to start with the key fob, you need to go through a certain procedure. Which is called “Software Neutral”. What is its essence? You have arrived home. And you want to start the car with autostart in the morning. To do this, you must put the car on the handbrake. You remove the key from the ignition and the engine continues to run. They took the necessary things, slammed the door and then put the guard on guard. The engine stalled. You have completed the procedure. Now you can start the car again using the key fob. And you need to carry out this procedure every time after stopping the car. Why is this so? It is in this mode that the signaling system knows that the car is in the handbrake and in neutral. But if you suddenly remember that you forgot your things in the car and disarmed the car, there will be no subsequent auto start. You will have to carry out the entire manipulation again.
Comfortable? Not really for me. I want to be absolutely able to start the car at any time. Although it is clear why such a procedure was done. To protect the user from his wrong actions. There is a way to get the ability to autostart your car at any time. To do this, in the autostart service settings (via key fob), select automatic transmission. But it stops protecting you from making a mistake, leaving the car in 0% gear. So that's it.
Ready for launch
For me personally, the most interesting feature of the system is autostart. Its benefits in our climate are obvious. Of course, it is better to install a pre-heater rather than running the engine at idle, but this is expensive.
I set the desired operating period and, by pressing a virtual key on the smartphone display, I start the engine. The application displays a notification about the execution of the command, and a “exhaust” appears on the car’s screen: it worked. The distance to the car does not matter, because the command does not come via a radio channel, but through a cellular network. There is an advantage over the Renault Start system, which VAZ probably looked at when creating their product. The button on the key card can be used to start French cars only if they are in line of sight. Of course, in Renault you can set the desired engine start time in advance through the multimedia system menu - but what if your plans change?
If you approach our Vesta when the autostart cycle is not yet completed, the engine will stall when you press the unlock button on the standard key.
Tolyatti engineers and marketers are still arguing about how autostart should be implemented. “Techies” insist that after each remote start there must be a trip - in order to preserve the battery charge and protect the engine from the harmful effects of long idling. But, for example, the same Renault Start allows you to make up to five starts in a row, providing periodic warming up of the engine on a frosty night. Perhaps AVTOVAZ will come to the same decision, because this is more comfortable for the consumer.
Autostart on our Vesta works correctly and without failures, but it is obvious that the system can and should be improved. It would be nice to provide for forced activation of the heated windows, since the engine is started remotely. Otherwise you’ll have to hang around the car with the engine and interior already warm to clean the windshield with a scraper. For greater comfort, I would like to see on my smartphone data on the levels of liquids, at least oil and anti-freeze. But for some reason, Vesta, created in Russia, does not have these functions in principle, so, alas, they are not available for the mobile application either.
Vesta robot (AMT) auto start in gear
How to correctly connect the A93 2CAN+2LIN on a Vesta with a robot (AMT), so that the starter can only start in the “N” selector position (protection in any other selector position)?
According to the car's operating manual, starting the engine is only possible when the brake pedal is pressed simultaneously and the gearbox selector is in the “N” position. You can turn off the ignition in any selector position.
So far, after reading the topics on this site, installation maps, connection diagrams and instruction manuals, as well as experience with a mileage of 10+ thousand km, the normal safe options remain:
1. Signaling mode “Manual transmission”, mode “program neutral”. Connecting the alarm to the brake pedal and to the standard ignition switch wires. Thus, all factory engine start interlocks are carried out, namely the electrically “pressed” brake pedal and the selector in neutral. If the driver does not leave the selector in N before parking, the factory lock will prevent the starter from turning.
But to do this, you need to experiment for a long time with the brake pedal (two connection points) or what?
2. The second option is to physically install a certain neutral sensor on the selector for the “Manual Transmission” alarm mode. Approximately, it is normal to keep the analog handbrake signal only in the selector position N with an open reed switch. In other words, if the selector is not in N, then the reed switch breaks the handbrake circuit, and autostart reservation does not occur (the handbrake signal does not reach after the reed switch). But this is a collective farm, in terms of reliability, IMHO.
3. Starline needs to complete the CAN so that he can see on the bus what position the selector is in. According to the VAZ technological instructions (available on the Internet) for the robot TI.3100.25100.12055, the position of the selector (M, +, -, A, N, R) is determined by the controller according to a matrix of signals from the four selector outputs (1 or 0 at each output). A logical unit, in turn, is a voltage of 1.8 - 2.7 volts at the output, a logical zero is a voltage of 3.2 - 4.1 volts.
The cleverest?
It is not yet clear whether Lada Connect telematics will include driving behavior monitoring. It is implemented in the system installed on our Vesta. The “trick” is interesting, and after each trip I record the rating given to me. But I don’t always agree with the interpretation of dangerous maneuvers: sometimes GPS positioning fails, and the driver receives an incorrect claim as a speed limit violator. I’m driving on a street with a limit of 60 km/h, but the system thinks that I’m on a parallel yard path where you can’t accelerate faster than 20 km/h. Such errors will unfairly increase the cost of your insurance policy.
