The VAZ 2114 stove blows cold air, the stove heats poorly/weakly

VAZ 2114 stove blows cold air

The stove blows cold VAZ 2114, 2011. E-gas. Recently I replaced the main radiator, thermostat, changed the coolant, changed several hoses and clamps, and bled the air out of the system. All hoses are hot, both upper and lower, with no signs of airiness. The antifreeze doesn’t go anywhere, I’ve been driving for 4 days. But a problem has arisen: the car is warm, the temperature is 90, the heater in the first position blows hot air, I put it in the second position, it starts blowing cool, gradually becoming cold, I’m silent about the third position as if from the street (on the street - 30) If you keep accelerating, it starts to get warm. You eat without a stove, hot air blows from the nozzles, the dampers are adjusted, tightened. Why is this happening, where to dig? What is the reason?

  • Check, if the air becomes hotter at rpm, then change the pump, there is still a possibility of an air lock, I solved it by squeezing the upper pipe - this is how the air came out. But if there is no air in the system, then only the pump.
  • Well, on E-gas there is no need to blow out the air plug, because there is no heating of the throttle. Therefore, the highest point of the cooling system is at the level of the expansion tank. You just fill in the antifreeze, tighten the reservoir cap and start the car. After a minute, all the air will be released through the tank plug. This time.
  • But the level of antifreeze in the tank is much higher than the location of the thermos. I've already changed the coolant many times and several times I didn't specifically run anything with my nose up. I just filled it up, warmed it up a little and drove off. There are no air pockets, there is an even stream from the return line in the tank. The system is filled with antifreeze during the first minute of engine operation. Therefore, I immediately fill in coolant 2 cm above the MAX, start the engine, the antifreeze almost immediately decreases and the level becomes 1-1.5 cm below the MAX.

Causes of malfunctions

In some cases, the fact that the furnace is blowing cold air is normal. For example, when you turn it on in ventilation mode. But if you switch to heating mode, but the heater is not going to blow hot air, you are faced with a breakdown.

Specialists at the service station will tell you that there can be many reasons for the breakdown. This is another reason to take more money. Therefore, it is in your interests and for reasons of economy to check each reason yourself. Besides, it's not that difficult. Among the main reasons why the stove on the VAZ-2114 stopped working and producing hot air may be:

  • broken fan;
  • airlock;
  • stove tap;
  • radiator;
  • insufficient pressure;
  • antifreeze deficiency;
  • cylinder head gasket;
  • motor.

As you can see, there are enough options for why the system stopped working.

Important! If you decide to do the repairs yourself, start with the most likely and simplest reasons for the failure of the heating system. It is better to entrust complex stages in the absence of relevant experience to specialists.

Fan

Warm or hot air may not flow from the stove if the fan is not activated from the start. In this situation, you will have to completely disassemble the stove and look for the cause inside it.

To avoid unnecessary dismantling work, start the engine and turn on in turn all the power levels at which the fan operates. If there is no noise or any movement, then you will still have to disassemble the system and change the fan or its motor.

Important! The thermostat is another potential culprit when the heater does not want to turn on. A faulty thermostat causes the coolant to circulate, but does not have time to cool.

Airlock

Quite often, VAZ-2114 stoves do not heat well due to the fact that an air lock has formed inside the cooling system. It appears mainly in cases where the engine has already stopped working. From this moment on, the temperature of the coolant begins to drop. In such situations, air is able to leak into the upper part of your VAZ-2114 radiator, after which the plug penetrates the thermostat.

The next time you start the engine, the heater may not turn on. This is due to the fact that when the engine starts, the pump drives accumulated air through the thermostat into the heater radiator. In some cases, because of this, VAZ-2114 stoves only heat up at speed. Therefore, before sending the car to a service station, simply try to get rid of air in the system. Although there are other possible reasons for the lack of heat at idle and its appearance after pressing the gas. This is the heater valve or the same cylinder head gasket.

The VAZ 2114 stove blows cold, what are the reasons?

Sometimes owners of VAZ-2114 cars have to deal with the problem of a non-working stove. In particular, such malfunctions cause problems in winter, since the car interior is not only unbearably cold, but also the windshield tends to become covered with a thin crust of ice, which significantly blocks the view. Therefore, if suddenly the stove in a VAZ-2114 stops working, you should immediately find the cause of the malfunction.

These problems can occur for a variety of reasons, ranging from worn-out cooling systems to electrical wiring problems. This article will discuss in detail all possible causes of stove malfunction, thanks to which it will be possible to find a solution to this problem.

It should be noted that symptoms of stove malfunction can be divided into two types:

  1. Cold air is blowing from the stove. Sometimes barely warm.
  2. The stove does not turn on at all or does not work in some individual modes.

The stove on the VAZ 2114 does not heat well: we find out the reasons and fix the problem

Car owners of VAZ 2114 cars sometimes encounter a problem when the heater inside the car suddenly stops heating. But this is not always the case; some cars are cold to begin with. Why the stove on the VAZ 2114 does not heat up, and what needs to be done to make the interior warmer, we will figure it out in this article.

The car's heater doesn't heat up

Malfunctions of the VAZ-2114 cooling system

If the thermostat in the car does not work, the coolant that is in the system is constantly circulating in a large circle. As a result, it turns out that the liquid does not have time to heat up, so cold or slightly warm air blows from the stove. In order to solve this problem, it is enough to simply repair or replace the thermostat.

Another reason could be a simple air lock formed in the thermostat. In order to eliminate this problem, you need to remove the pipe going to the heater, and then add antifreeze to the very top. It should be noted that in this case, the liquid level in the system should not be below the maximum mark, or even a whole centimeter above it. And all because if there is not enough liquid in the system, then the stove blows cold air.

If the heater blows cold air at idle, the problem may be hidden in the pump, since it is not able to ensure normal circulation of the coolant in the system. In this case, the pump must be replaced.

WE FIX THE PROBLEM OURSELVES

This also happens - at high speeds the stove “breaks through” and it starts to heat up, but at idle speed the fan blows cold air. Why doesn't the VAZ 2114 heater heat up at idle? We immediately note that if you are the owner of a VAZ 2113 or VAZ 2115, then all solutions to problems with the lack of heating of the interior will be similar to the solutions with the 2114 model. So, we are trying to find simple solutions to the problem ourselves:

  1. Insufficient coolant level. Add antifreeze; if the stove breaks, the problem is solved.
  2. Airlock. How to check? In the area of the heater radiator, the characteristic murmur of antifreeze is heard, the temperature sensor on the instrument panel shows almost maximum (almost boiling), one of the main radiator pipes is cold. You need to remove the expansion tank cap, press on the pipes and “gas” the engine. Perhaps the plug will break. It happens that the valve itself in the tank plug is to blame; you can try replacing it. It is also often advised to park the car on a hill, with the plug removed, “gas” the engine, and then add antifreeze when the plug “breaks”.
  3. Also, if one of the pipes is cold and the temperature on the sensor goes off scale, a faulty thermostat is to blame. It's easy to check. We remove and place the thermostat in a container of water, heat the water and see at what temperature the thermostat valve begins to close. It should open at engine operating temperature (90-95ºC). The faulty part needs to be replaced.
  4. The head gasket begins to burn out. With such a malfunction, an air lock is created in the cooling system, but it will not be possible to expel it using all known methods. The gasket will have to be changed. True, not every car enthusiast can do such work with his own hands.

Removing the thermostat

Stove tap failure

Quite often, the stove of a VAZ-2114 car blows cold air due to a malfunction of the faucet. In order to get rid of this problem, you should tighten the cable, which can be easily reached from the pedal assembly. You need to have pliers on hand, which, in fact, are used to tighten the cable.

If, after doing all of the above, the stove tap still does not open, there are only two reasons left:

  • the faucet is sour;
  • The faucet needs replacing.

By the way, this procedure should be carried out very carefully, since the tap can easily be torn off, causing the liquid to leak directly into the car interior.

A faulty faucet is indicated by cold air blowing from the car's heater when it is turned on for heating. Another reason to replace the faucet is leakage.

If you decide to replace the faucet yourself, we present to your attention the sequence of actions:

  • unscrew the drain plugs located on the engine block;
  • drain all the coolant that is in the system;
  • clean the studs on the faucet using an iron brush;
  • wet them with WD-40. Thanks to this action, unscrewing will be much easier;
  • loosen the clamps on the pipes and drain the remaining liquid;
  • inside the car, unscrew the side trim, loosen the clamps on the pipes that are directed to the heater radiator;
  • unscrew the nuts under the machine holding the tap;
  • pull the tap out through the cabin;
  • disconnect the cable leading to it;
  • connect it to the new tap;
  • check that all parts are assembled correctly;
  • Proceed with the assembly process in reverse order.

Relays and fuses

A blown fuse is one of the most common stove malfunctions in a VAZ-2114. This reason is extremely simple, since it can be eliminated by every person who does not have the slightest idea about the structure of a car. However, this reason is also very unpleasant, since it is, firstly, necessary to establish the reason why the fuse blew, and secondly, not so easy. Typically, a blown fuse indicates a problem with the vehicle's electrical wiring.

Problem with switches

In order to check the serviceability of the stove switches, you need to acquire the simplest light bulb, 12 volts, with two wires. Next, remove the central part of the dashboard and perform the following steps:

  • turn on the car ignition;
  • connect the negative contact from the light bulb to ground with a wire;
  • The positive contact is alternately connected to outputs 1-2-3 on an additional resistor.

If the light comes on during this procedure, this indicates that the switch is working. But if the light does not light up, most likely the fuse has blown or the circuit has broken.

Stove motor failure

Of course, the stove motor, like, in fact, any other electrical part of the VAZ-2114, can burn out over time. However, before deciding to replace it, it is necessary to check the functionality of all fuses, the temperature mode switch, and the ignition relay. If all the above parts are in order, then the problem is still in the motor.

To replace it, you must first disassemble and then remove the entire dashboard, turn off the heater valve, and also drain the antifreeze or antifreeze. Next, we remove all the pipes, take out the old motor, and install a new one in its place. Once the functionality of the new heater has been verified, the system can be refilled with the fluid that was drained at the beginning of this process.

What to do if there is cold air in the VAZ 2114 stove?

The cold air of the stove 2114 creates many problems. The VAZ is a car loved by many, but it also often has problems.

The task of the stove in the cabin of any car is to create a warm climate. A car heater is not a very complicated device, and the heat is supplied by the engine. The pump sends antifreeze through the heating and cooling systems, the hot antifreeze enters the stove radiator, and the fan at this time passes already heated air. That's why it gets warm in the cabin. The antifreeze then returns to the engine.

If the stove in a VAZ 2114 produces cold air when the mode is on, an urgent inspection of the entire car is necessary, otherwise a seemingly minor breakdown can lead to serious repairs.

Most often, the reason lies in the cylinder head gasket.

If it was pierced, then even by eye you can determine whether this is so. This will become clear if you make sure that in the expansion tank:

  • air bubbles enter;
  • An excessive amount of antifreeze enters, and it does not decrease (this is the reason for the instantaneous heating of the engine even at idle speed).

A hole in the gasket indicates that the thermostat needs to be checked, and there is a possibility that the operation of the large cooling circle is disrupted.

Most often, the gasket is damaged, burning out in the place between the cylinder and the cooling, then:

  • antifreeze may get into the camera;
  • gases into the cooling system.

If cooled air is blowing, there is a fear that the heating system hoses could not withstand the load while driving. When the engine got too hot, they burst, followed by the cylinder head gasket.

A pump malfunction can also cause the stove to supply air that is far from warm. But that's not what's dangerous. Such a breakdown entails a malfunction of the cylinder head.

Because of this, the engine may overheat so much that the engine cannot withstand it, and it will face major repairs.

Driving on dusty, polluted roads adds to the damage to cars. The radiator is the first to suffer. It may be partially or even completely blocked from road dust. The air, which according to all the rules should pass through the grille, will in this case look for more optimal paths and blow around the edges of the radiator, and the stove, accordingly, will not please the driver with warm air.

REASONS FOR THE LACK OF WARM AIR IN THE VAZ 2114 INTERIOR

If you don’t know how the car works, you might think that the heater is not heating well only because of a malfunction in the heating system, but in practice there are many more reasons. Reasons for the lack of hot air in the car interior:

  • The heater radiator is clogged, it may also be of poor quality;
  • The heater motor in the cabin does not work;
  • The heater tap is faulty, does not open completely or is completely closed. The crane drive cable may be broken (the cable of the VAZ 2114 stove);
  • Air lock in the engine cooling system. The air in the system does not allow coolant to circulate normally through all pipes;
  • The cylinder head gasket is broken. In this case, the engine on the VAZ 2114 heats up, antifreeze leaves the cooling radiator;
  • Insufficient antifreeze level in the radiator. This problem can be solved simply - you just need to add coolant to the required level;
  • The heater motor does not work. Here, too, everything is quite simple - if it does not make noise when turned on, then you need to look for the reason for the lack of heating of the interior in it. Although, the wiring going to the motor and the switch itself may be to blame;
  • The heater control unit (heater switch block) is faulty. There are options here - warm air does not reach the windshield, does not blow into the legs, and there is no side airflow. The cables on the heater control may be torn (or flown off);
  • The water pump (pump) in the engine cooling system does not provide the necessary circulation;
  • Thermostat is faulty. The thermostat is required to maintain a certain temperature in the cooling system, but if it is constantly open, then circulation occurs in a large circle and the coolant does not heat up to operating condition.
