Trouble P0522 - Engine Oil Pressure Sensor - Voltage Low

How does a mechanic diagnose a P0522 code?

When diagnosing this error code, a mechanic will do the following:

  • Will clear all error codes and test drive the vehicle while monitoring the scanner data in real time to see if P0522 appears again
  • Check the oil level and condition
  • Check the oil filter for clogging
  • Visually inspect the engine oil pressure sensor and check its wires and connectors for any damage
  • Check the engine oil pressure sensor voltage using an ohmmeter and compare the value obtained with the value specified in the manufacturer's specifications
  • Check the oil pressure using a mechanical pressure gauge and compare the obtained value with the sensor readings

The check on Grant caught fire: possible reasons

So, you're on the road, and the engine icon lights up on the dashboard. On all cars this sign looks the same - it cannot be confused with anything else. How to understand what the reason is?

There is an opinion: you can find out the error code if you enter the instrument panel into service mode. This is when the instrument needles jump in all directions, the display shows information about the car software version.

This is not true - you can find out the software. Error code - not always. You need an OBDII adapter like ELM327 with a display or Bluetooth connection to a phone with a program like Torque (free).

System error

A software failure in the electronic control unit (ECU) can lead to any error being reflected, even if there is none in the engine. The error codes for which the ECU is responsible go from P0030 to P2501.

Errors related to automatic transmission: P0720 – P1701.

Data transmission problems: U0001 – U0305.

Oxygen sensor

Granta divides errors into two oxygen sensors: before and after the converter. Problems with them from burning out.

Codes for the sensor before the neutralizer: P0030 – P0032 / P0130 – P0135.

After the neutralizer: P0036 – P0038 / P0136 – P0141 / P2270 – P2271.

Problems with sensor heating: P1102, P1115, P1135, P1141.

UCH or CBCH error

What are UCH and CBKE? These are control units for all interior electronics on luxury versions of Lada.

Problems with TsBKE on Grant: turn signals do not work, window lifters take on a life of their own, etc. Replacing the unit is problematic; with labor and parts, expect about 4,000 rubles.

There is an option to transfer the electronics to a relay, as implemented on the Standard and Norma.

Problems with the mass air flow sensor

The mass air flow sensor (MAF) is installed under the hood immediately after the air filter.

  • The car runs rough or won't start;
  • The check is on;
  • Increased fuel consumption (up to one and a half times).

Mass air flow sensor errors: P0101, P0102, P0103.

Crankshaft position sensor

DPKV - crankshaft position sensor - also has its own set of possible errors: P0335, P0336, P0337, P0338.

Diagnosing the sensor is important, but often problems with it are immediately obvious. If the DPKV fails, the car simply will not start or will operate extremely unstably.

What repairs can fix the P0522 code?

To resolve this error, the mechanic will do the following:

  • Check for error codes using an OBD-II scanner, clear codes from the PCM, and test drive the vehicle to see if P0522 appears again
  • Check and, if necessary, replace all damaged, loose, or shorted engine oil pressure sensor wires and connectors
  • Check the voltage of the engine oil pressure sensor and, if necessary, replace it (the most common way to resolve the P0522 code)
  • Eliminates problems caused by decreased oil pressure

Electronic gas pedal for Lada Granta. What is it and where does error P2135 come from?

Fuel-injected cars of yesteryear were more driver-dependent than modern technology. In older engines, the air flow was metered directly by the driver, although it was controlled by electronic systems. However, they could not influence the degree of opening of the damper.

Schematic diagram of the operation of the electronic throttle valve of the Lada Granta.

The electronic gas pedal (E-gas) works on a completely different principle. The throttle valve actuation circuit is constructed as follows:

  1. The driver presses the gas pedal, thereby transmitting the potential of a certain force to the engine control unit.
  2. The ECU analyzes the situation and decides at what angle the throttle should be opened to ensure economical and environmentally friendly operation of the engine. The electronic module took responsibility for both the fuel dosage, the amount of air in the combustion chamber, and the ignition timing.
  3. The control unit sends a signal to the throttle valve gear motor (actuator), which is activated, turns the valve and sends back a pulse that tells the ECU the real throttle opening angle, based on the data of two sensors - the actual and desired position of the valve.
  4. Next, the ECU doses gasoline and adjusts the ignition timing. This happens every time we touch the gas pedal.

Everything would be fine if not for the nuances. For example, low-quality components or crooked assembly of electronic components. What does error P2135 have to do with it? It's simple.

Reviews

Positive
1Petr (autodrome): there are no complaints about the functionality of the DBP, they work in normal mode, the mileage is 34,500 km.
2Vyacheslav (autotopic): I tightened the fastening of the terminal on the DAD once, did not contact the service center, managed it on my own.
3Victor (Autoreview): the emergency warning diode goes out within 2 seconds after the engine starts. The workshop assured that this is the norm.
4Kirill (Avtoria): the car is four years old, mileage 55,000 km, no repairs. I regularly visit service stations and fill them with high-quality fuel and oils.
5Alexander (Drom): there have been no critical comments on the operation of the machine for three years; minor breakdowns were eliminated on my own.
6Stanislav (Driving): mileage 60,000 km, no rude comments.
7Stepanovich (“5th wheel”): my positive review of the Lada Vesta, the car is good, the build quality is above average. For domestic transport it is quite tolerable.
Negative
8Vitaly (autotopic): I replaced the DBP for the first time in the third year of the car’s life, fortunately the repair was free of charge, under warranty.
9Mikhail (review. no): I heard about the problem with the 1.8 liter oil pump, it is weak for such a volume.
10Stanislav (ProAvto): the car constantly breaks down, something breaks, it doesn’t work properly.

Computer diagnostics

The most effective methods are those using sophisticated computer technology.

What does this method provide? First of all, it allows you to control the entire internal combustion engine. The diagnostic accuracy is exceptional. Errors that may arise as a result are automatically eliminated using special programs.

Types of work:

  • stationary – with the device connected directly to the car’s ECU (PC, laptop, scanner);
  • remote – via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi (tablet, smartphone).

Computer data processing is carried out by introducing “software” (programs) into the processor of the device, focused on:

  • comprehensive diagnostics (engine, suspension and steering systems, brakes);
  • ICE;
  • electronics.

How to do it? Drivers usually use the services of a car service center. This is not the only option. With some preparation, it is possible to diagnose a car yourself.

Description of the procedure:

  1. Basic equipment: - computer; — “K-Line” adapter with a cable on Olb2 and Usb connectors (for a fixed connection) or Elm327 adapter with Bluetooth (remote testing); — diagnostic programs and drivers;
  2. installation of the necessary “software” and “chip” (driver) on the computer platform;
  3. “firmware” (adaptation) of the ECU (provides communication between the controller and the computer and transfers to it all available vehicle parameters.

The state of the required systems is determined by gradually scanning each node. Defects that cannot be eliminated by the intervention of electronic correctors are eliminated during minor, medium or major repairs.

Where is the sensor located and its part number

The DDM is located on the right side of the engine and is screwed into the cylinder head. To replace it, you will need to remove the plastic decorative cover, after which the sensor will be immediately visible. Replacing the sensor itself is very simple, unscrew the old one and install the new one, no additional actions need to be performed.

The article number of the original oil pressure sensor is 11180-3829010-00 . Its cost may vary in different regions, but on average it ranges from 120 to 160 rubles.
