Glove box repair kit (lock and key) for VAZ 2110-2112 with Europanel

Many VAZ 2110 owners have one problem in common: when opening the glove compartment you need to make a lot of effort, especially in winter. In some cases, you will even have to use all available means, for example, a tool. And all just to open the tight glove box, which, generally speaking, should open without any problems. Repairing the glove compartment of a VAZ 2110 can be done by lubricating it.

First you will have to remove the glove compartment of the VAZ 2110, the procedure is simple: unscrew just two bolts. Next, disconnect the connectors for the glove compartment lamp and pull it out of there in a slightly open state. You can get to the lock mechanism by unscrewing the small bolts from the inside of the glove box. Turn the lid over, apply a little force and remove the latches from the grooves. After this, take out the metal rod and remove the buttons. If the rod is not in a marketable condition due to corrosion, you can use a steel cleaner.

In most cases, the factory grease will be a thick black substance. Not surprisingly, quite a lot of time has passed, and it is this lubricant that makes the glove compartment difficult to operate. It is necessary to completely remove the old lubricant and apply a new one (for example, graphite) to the rod. If necessary, you can slightly enlarge the hole in the buttons, thereby ensuring better glide. Before installing the glove compartment in place, let’s check the operation of the lock. If everything works, reassemble the glove box in the reverse order. Also, the lighting in the glove compartment of the VAZ 2110 can be changed to LED.

The glove compartment (the latch is broken), but how to open it?

Actually, yesterday I closed the glove compartment and couldn’t open it. Maybe something got caught between the fasteners and the piece of iron, or maybe it just broke. In any case, you need to open it, but how? I read that you need to press some kind of spring, I pressed everything until there was a crack and the effect was zero :(. Has anyone encountered this and how did they solve the problem?

PS> Well, there is absolutely nowhere else to store rubber, you need to open it.

Break it! I thought that only I could have such crap happen to me))) Either something got between the tongue and the bracket, or this very tongue makes a sound! I tried to open it carefully, I tried for a long time, it only raised my nerves ( there were the necessary papers there), he couldn’t stand it and insolently used his thickest screwdriver. Then I really had to go to the collective farm, I pulled it out of the Koronov glove compartment and with minor modifications it’s still working properly for four years now. Try it, maybe you’ll succeed :-)

Whoops, at least I’m not the only one :). No, I had the idea of stupidly sticking a screwdriver under the tongue and poking at it until smoke comes out of my ears, but I don’t remember if it’s possible to screw something up or not? Moreover, I think you need to find the lock first, otherwise I don’t really want to drive with the glove compartment constantly open :).

Sore of hundredth Corollas and not only.

Yes, there’s nothing special to break except this very tongue, the mating part is a metal bracket, I generally drove without it for a week and a half! (on the doors, and on the seats I pushed everything)

Looks like it's gone :). I don’t have a place to look at how it’s designed, I thought maybe the tongue came with the glove compartment, and the narrow-eyed people somehow attached the lock to the tongue. I thought because the color of the tongue and the glove compartment is just “one after another.”

I drive around with the glove compartment closed. I opened it, glued it - it didn’t help, a week later the tongue broke again
