  • air conditioning from Priora. This option should be considered last, since it is not optimal. The fact is that “Priors” were equipped with different air conditioners over the years of production. At first they were equipped with standard VAZ air conditioners, then Halla devices began to appear, and on the latest models they began to install Panasonic. Installing all these devices in a VAZ 2110 requires significant modification of the torpedo (several new holes will have to be cut in it, and existing ones will have to be expanded).   1. First, you need to dismantle the windshield wiper blades, as well as the plastic lining located under them. To do this, unscrew all the bolts that secure the cover and set it aside.
  2. After this, you will need to drain the coolant from the system. To do this, take an old, but not dirty container, because if the condition of the antifreeze is satisfactory, you will reuse it, and you do not need dirt in the cooling system. The container must be placed under the drain hole, after which you will need to unscrew the lid and drain the consumables. Wait about 30 minutes until the antifreeze is completely out of the system. Evaluate the quality of the drained consumables - if traces of deposits or wear products are visible in the refrigerant, then we would not recommend refilling such antifreeze into the system.
  3. When the antifreeze is drained, it is necessary to disconnect the lines of the heating device and remove the heating unit assembly.
  4. If your car is noisy, then after removing the heater in the engine shield, you need to cut it out - this will allow air flow to recirculate in the system.
  5. Now you will need a new ventilation device, radiator assembly, pipes, as well as all the necessary brackets and fasteners. These elements are necessary for installing a new condenser. Install the radiator assembly of the Conder; during installation, it will need to be fixed as securely as possible. If the radiator is poorly secured, problems may arise during its operation, since such devices are sensitive to vibrations.
  6. Now you will need a heating unit from a Lada Priora car along with an evaporator. Before installing it in your car, you will need to install a fan in it in advance. Like the radiator, this element must be securely fixed in the structure - this will avoid possible problems in the future associated with its operation. After all, if the fan does not work, there will be no point in using the air conditioner.
  7. It should also be noted that when installing the air conditioning system on the “ten”, it is necessary to replace the alternator belt. This is because an old, worn strap may not withstand the load that will appear after activating the conder. The size of the new belt is 1088 mm, you need to install it in place of the old one. Please note that after installing the belt, it must be tensioned correctly. If the belt is too loose, the generator will not work properly.   8. When replacing the belt, you will need to remove the lower support of the generator unit. After removing it, install the bracket from the compressor unit instead.
  9. After completing all these steps, the heating device is installed. Having installed it, it is necessary to lay all the necessary lines and pipes. Don't forget to connect the pipe from the air recirculation valve to the receiver.
  10. As for the lines that connect to the radiator device, it will be more convenient to install them by dismantling the grille itself.
  11. In fact, the installation of the air conditioner can be considered complete. Now you will need to install the appropriate air conditioning control buttons in the car, and also connect them correctly. It is most convenient to place the buttons in the center console; specially designated places should be provided for this. To correctly connect the device to the on-board network, as well as connect all electrical components, use the diagram below.
  12. After the buttons are installed, you will need to fill the system with consumables, that is, freon. When refilling freon, you need to be careful to fill in the exact amount of consumables - no more and no less. If there is too much or too little gas, the air conditioner will not be able to operate at full capacity.   13. Now all you have to do is check the functionality of the installed system. Before operating the Conder, start the engine and open the windows. Wait a few minutes until the power unit warms up, then turn on the air conditioner. When the vehicle is driven, engine power may decrease, but this is normal. The new air conditioner should blow cold air well; if you notice that the air flow is very weak, then check the quality of installation of all elements.

The electronic device of the car begins to signal about product defects; to stop the receipt of erroneous signals from the detector, you should check the fastening of the wiring in the power compartment. Vibration friction during vehicle movement can cause the absence or weakening of one of the contacts. Additionally, you should sand the battery terminal from suspected oxidation and test the wire connections from the product to the on-board electronic device (front panel).
  3. The car does not start, attempts to revive the vehicle's engine do not lead to success. To solve this problem, you need to test the electrical wiring and its attachment to the contacts. Check the contact of the sensor with the collector, otherwise the product may fail.

However, these pleasant “extras” were still not intra-VAZ developments, although power steering and microclimate systems began to be seriously studied in Togliatti back in the eighties.

While working on the “ten”, VAZ entered into a licensing agreement with ZF, which envisaged the creation of two types of steering mechanism - a conventional rack and pinion with a variable gear ratio and a version with a hydraulic booster.

Alas, the introduction of power steering simultaneously with a conventional “rack” was prevented by the lack of funding and a “truncated license”, which was concluded only for the mechanism itself, while the pump, reservoir and the rest of the “piping” had to be purchased abroad.

That is why the Chevrolet Niva - or rather, the Tolyatti enterprise “Steering Systems”, created jointly with ZF, in addition to the mechanism for the “shnivy”, mastered the production of “tenth” power steering units, which were supplied to the VAZ conveyor.

On the “ten”, the designers decided to abandon the heater tap, at the same time using an automatic control system for ventilation and heating - the so-called SAUO, which could independently change the temperature in the cabin depending on the position of the controls. Of course, for the system to function as a full-fledged climate control system, this would require an air conditioner. Unfortunately, during work on the VAZ-2110, it remained not fully developed, and for financial reasons, installation with expensive imported components (compressor and radiator) would have increased the price of the car by at least $1,000, which was at that time neither the plant nor the mass Russian consumer can afford it. That is why air conditioning never appeared on mass production cars of this family, although in the pilot production of VAZ it was installed to order for non-standard modifications based on the “tens”.

Refueling air conditioners must be done using specialized equipment, where the unit does almost everything for you.

The refueling procedure is performed in the following order.

  • Removing old freon. In your case, when you have just installed the air conditioner, this step is skipped.
  • A vacuum is created inside the system. This is necessary to check the tightness of your equipment. If there are defects, the filled freon will simply leak out and you will waste your money on an expensive refill.
  • Additives and special oil are added to the system. Over time and as the air conditioner is used, this oil disappears. So during subsequent refills you will have to fill in both freon and new oil.
  • The circuit is filled with freon.
  • The system is being tested.
  • The service of specialists is paid.


Necessary freon
In the case of the VAZ 2114, freon refilling is required in a volume of no more than 500 grams. This is the amount of refrigerant that most cooling systems suitable for this car model are designed for.

You won’t be able to refill the air conditioner yourself, if only for the reason that buying equipment and the refrigerant itself for a couple of refills is completely unreasonable.   • we measure the resistance value on the external winding of the product using a megger or multimeter;
  • If the measurement values ​​are below 550 Ohms and above 750 Ohms, then you can be sure that the sensor is defective.

It would be reasonable to wonder if we would buy a car without an engine, since we would still have to install one. The situation is the same with the climate system. It is advisable to assess the need for air conditioning before purchasing a car. If an air conditioning device is really necessary, then you should choose a car with an air conditioner already installed. It's cheaper, and much cheaper. And if we cannot imagine life without an automatic air conditioning system, climate control, even more so. It is even more expensive by about $400. In order not to be unfounded, we will simply give a couple of examples, taken not from books on the theoretical installation of automobile air conditioning systems in a weakened economy, but simply from life. Replacing a light bulb through the hood

First, open the hood, find the plug. It should be located almost in the center of the engine compartment. Now you need to remove it. This can be done with your hands if you have free access (your hand can reach it). If not, you need to get rid of the interfering objects. It could be the battery, or it could be something else. In any case, this item must either be completely removed or moved.

If you have freed up space and can unscrew the plug, you need to remove the seal. To do this, you can simply pull the side rubber “handles”. Now you need to unplug the plug from the connector. In order to get to the light bulb, you need to remove the clamp. Turn it until you hear a click. The light bulb is accessible and can be replaced.

If you have a question about how to change a light bulb in a headlight, but you couldn’t get to the plug, you need to do the following. Take the prepared tools (screwdriver and wrench). Now with their help you need to remove the two bolts that secure the headlight. After this, you need to disconnect the headlight from the power supply by disconnecting the cable.

Now you can get the headlight. This must be done very carefully, since the clamps that hold the headlight are very flimsy and can be easily broken. Therefore, take it out slowly, lifting it up a little.

Once you have the headlight in your hands, you need to remove the cover to get to the bulb. And then everything went according to plan: removing the plug, wire clamp and replacing the light bulb itself.

Installation

Now all that’s left to do is install the equipment on your own car. Let's say right away that this is not so easy to do. Therefore, we strongly do not recommend starting work if you have no experience.

If you are used to repairing a car with your own hands, and have already managed to disassemble and assemble almost all the components of your VAZ 2114, then you can definitely handle it.

The work can be divided into six main stages:

  1. Evaporator installation;
  2. Installation of wiring;
  3. Installation of a capacitor;
  4. Installation of pipes;
  5. Wire fastening;
  6. Compressor installation.

Now let's talk about each stage separately.

Evaporator

To install the evaporator, refer to the following instructions:

  1. Remove the rubber seal from the hood of your car;
  2. Remove the plastic drain located on the right;
  3. Completely remove the stove filter, dismantling it together with the housing;
  4. Take the guerlain that comes with the air conditioner and glue it according to the instructions;
  5. Install the lower part of the evaporator;
  6. Mount the fan housing;
  7. Complete installation of the assembled evaporator.

Wiring

This is not the most difficult, but very important stage. The service life of the equipment depends on the quality and reliability of the wiring.

  • Remove the air filter and dismantle the adsorber.
  • Remove the lower protective cover of the mounting block.
  • Remove the seals located on the headlight hydrocorrector.
  • Pull the positive wire along the standard wiring bundle to the battery.
  • Lay the wiring that goes to the air conditioner fan and pressure sensor.
  • Pull the wire with the activation button through the hole in the hydraulic corrector.
  • Place the button in the location you like on the dashboard.
  • At the heater switch, connect the orange and gray wires.
  • Install the temperature sensor in the hole through which the wiring going to the heater fan passes.
  • Install the thermostat by connecting the required wire to it. Choose the installation location yourself as you like best.

Capacitor

The next step is installing the capacitor. To do this you need:

  • Replace the sound signal in place of the outside air temperature sensor;
  • Install a plastic clip and temporarily place the capacitor;
  • Connect the compressor tube and the condenser;
  • Complete the fixation of the capacitor.

Tubes

  1. The receiver is connected to the evaporator using a special tube. The instructions indicate which tube should be used for these purposes;
  2. Another tube is pulled from the evaporator to the compressor;
  3. A pressure sensor and corresponding connecting tube are installed.

Compressor

The only thing left is the compressor

  1. Remove the right boot and dismantle the extension.
  2. Remove the generator and generator bracket.
  3. Disconnect the wiring from the right headlight.
  4. Install the new bracket that comes with the air conditioner and secure the generator to it.
  5. Fix all the tubes going to the compressor, and finally make sure that the compressor is securely fastened.
  6. Install the drive belt.
  7. Fill the system with 500 grams of freon 134.
