The system includes the following components:

  1. Heater VAZ 2107, whose task is to heat the air. The main element of the heater is the radiator, through which coolant circulates.
  2. A fan that directs heated air into the cabin. It is attached to the casing using elastic pads that dampen vibration.
  3. Heater control system, including a fan button, handles and dampers for the heating mode control system.

The heating system works like this:

Through the grilles on the hood, air enters the air supply box located in the engine compartment near the windshield.

In the event of rain or downpour, the water is separated from the air and flows into the holes in the box. This allows you to use the stove in any weather, but until the radiator heats up, the air entering the cabin during rain will be damp.

The air flow is directed to the VAZ 2107 heater and heats up as it passes through the radiator. Heating is regulated using a tap, which regulates the amount of coolant passing through. The crane is controlled by a flexible rod attached to the control lever.

While driving, the air flow enters the engine compartment and the air independently enters the heater. When stopping or at low speed, an electric fan is used, controlled by a switch that has three positions: “off”, “full speed” and “low speed”. Reduced speed is achieved by turning on the electric motor through a resistor, which reduces the voltage on the motor winding.

After the radiator, the air enters the air ducts and exits through deflectors, which allow you to change the direction of flow. Warm air can be directed onto the windshield and side windows, under the feet of the driver and front passenger.

Control elements of the air flow from the VAZ 2107 stove:

  • Fan air distribution cover that regulates air flow.
  • Levers and handles that change the position of the air supply covers and dampers that regulate airflow.

VAZ stove fan squeals

Owners of classic Zhiguli cars know that when the heater is turned on, it can make a heart-rending squeal. This sound is produced by a fan whose rotor is distorted in the bushings. What can be done?

In old fans that were installed on “sixes”, “fives”, “sevens” and other classic “Zhiguli” vehicles, the rotor is mounted in bushings. This is not the best solution and leads to the fact that over time the bushings break and the rotor begins to jam during operation. Later, new fans began to be installed on the “classics”, which had bearings instead of bushings. Such fans are quieter and blow better.

This is done by lubricating the rotor. To do this, you need to get to the fan. When the heater halves are disconnected, you need to disconnect the battery (to prevent the fan from suddenly starting for any reason) and unscrew the nut that secures the impeller to the heater fan motor. There is no need to remove the fan itself.

We remove the impeller, remove the felt washers from the shaft and carefully spray the shaft where it enters the engine housing with an aerosol lubricant, such as WD-40 or Unisma. The goal is to force the lubricant inside. Aerosol lubricant is penetrating, meaning it easily passes through cracks, so a few presses on the sprayer are enough. The lubricant will flow along the rotor shaft and lubricate the bushings.

You can check whether the lubricant is useful right away. Install the washers and impeller on the shaft, tighten the fastening nut, connect the battery and press the heater fan switch on first at low speed and then at high speed. If the squealing persists, repeat the lubrication procedure. Ideally, the squealing should disappear completely.

This repair is very dubious, from the category of “done on the knee”. However, fans lubricated in this way operate without squealing for more than a year. In conditions where it is not possible to install a new fan, this is a good solution.

To remove the electric motor we will need: a screwdriver and a 14mm wrench. If everything is there, then we will begin the repair.

The first step is to remove the lower console; to do this, unscrew the two screws that secure the lower part to the car body.

Remove the storage shelf located under the dashboard. The shelf is secured with four screws.

After removing the shelf, unscrew the screw securing the console to the front of the body.

Next, remove the additional instrument panel from the console and unscrew the two screws securing the console.

Remove the console while holding the additional panel with your hand.

Remove the air duct by unscrewing the two screws securing it.

Disconnect the four radiator and fan shroud holders and, moving slightly to the side as far as the wires allow, disconnect the fan shroud.

Remove the fan motor switch from the instrument panel, disconnect the wires going to the electric motor from it, and label them before disconnecting them. Next, push the wires into the switch hole.

Now we need to remove the fan impeller casing and disconnect the wires from the resistor.

Unscrew the nut located on the right under the instrument panel where the casing is attached to the car body and remove the ground wire.

Now you can remove the fan motor cover from the car.

  3. the heater valve control lever is moved all the way to the right;
  4. the coolant is drained from the heating system;
  5. the clamps are loosened;
  6. the rubber hoses are disconnected from the heater pipes (they control the supply and removal of fluid);
  7. the seal is removed (it is recommended to watch a detailed video before removing);
  8. two bolts securing the bracket are turned out (they are located inside the engine compartments);
  9. the bolts of the fastening brackets are loosened;
  10. the rods are disconnected and the bracket is removed;
  11. the nozzles are removed on the left and right;
  12. nut fixing the right air duct for heating the side windows;
  13. the left air duct is removed in the same way;
  14. we find four spring-type holders and remove them;
  15. remove the heater fan casing assembly;
  16. loosen the radiator casing nuts;
  17. the ground wire is disconnected and the casing is removed;
  18. the air duct is removed;
  19. the old heater is removed;

A standard five-bladed fan for classics, which has a motor several times more powerful, is suitable. And its weight is much lighter, and the rotor of the new motor rotates stronger than even that of the VAZ 2108.

RADIATOR AND HEATER FAN

You should know that in order to always keep the interior of a five-wheeler warm and cozy, especially on winter days, you need to be able to increase the amount of heat supplied. Which part is directly responsible for supplying warm air? Of course, the radiator. But there is a problem - at the top five the fan is so loud that it makes you laugh.

It is very small and simply not capable of creating the required flow.

What to do? First, let's compare the fans on the VAZ 2105 and the VAZ 2108. The first motor consumes 4.5 A current and has a rotation speed of 3000 rpm, and the second one 14 A, but spins 4100 rpm. This already says something. It is recommended to replace the fan with another one.

Causes of increased noise from the VA heater

  2. Squealing may occur due to unequal expansion coefficients of the shaft (steel) and brass (bushing). This squeal is characteristic at very low temperatures, with sufficiently long operation (according to wear). The solution is to replace either the electric motor assembly or replace the bushings and then treat them with a rubber.
  3. Squealing can also be produced by textolite washers, which are installed to eliminate axial play. They are available on both sides of the motor shaft. Let's look at how to deal with this below.

Eliminating squealing heater VAZ

To eliminate this type of noise, you need to remove the fan and clean it from dust and dirt. Keep in mind that these works relate to the vehicle's electrical network, so before starting work, you must disconnect the ground! Within this post I will not talk about how to remove the heater fan; it will be interesting - there will be posts about this.

Essentially, we need to eliminate the end play of the fan motor. This should be done using fluoroplastic washers or similar material.

The main thing is that minimal friction is created between these materials. It is also a good idea to lubricate the bearings with a thick, temperature-insensitive lubricant. An example of such a lubricant is MS-1000 .

Next, all that remains is to disassemble the fan motor, make the required number of washers, lubricate everything, and assemble the electric motor. Keep in mind that eliminating fan noise with motor oil is a short-term improvement, but in the end you will get what you had in the first place. Motor oils are too rare, they leak and dry out very quickly.

What will you get in the end? After lubrication, the fan will rotate faster and quieter, and the squealing will also disappear in cold weather.

Failure of the stove motor on a classic is one of the common problems of the heating and ventilation system. But, more often than not, car enthusiasts are faced with the fact that the fan motor starts to whistle, squeak, and there is a hum and other strange sounds.

What does the stove consist of?

Before you start improving the stove, you need to understand what elements it consists of. Any VAZ stove consists of:

  • radiator;
  • air flow distributor;
  • three-blade or 5-blade fan and its shell.

If the theater begins with a hanger, then the stove begins with an air intake duct. It is located at the rear of the engine block. It is here that the air coming from the street is purified from moisture. The box is protected from a hot engine by special gaskets - they act as a partition.

After the air is cleared of moisture, it enters the heating system. The steam then comes out. There is a device above the dashboard that allows some of the air to escape when driving.

The heating housing is located in the interior of the car: it is fixed to the partition with the engine.

The heater radiator has inlet and outlet channels. These channels are connected to each other by tubes. The first tube has a built-in heating valve that regulates the supply of cooling liquid. Using a lever located on the dashboard, the flow of fluid into the machine's ventilation system is reduced or increased.

At the bottom of the radiator there is a heating system fan with a small motor that allows you to adjust the fan speed (there are two speeds in total).

The exhaust device allows the incoming air to be distributed throughout the cabin.

In order for the improvement of the VAZ-2101 stove to be justified, it is necessary to understand why the stove is not working well. If you are satisfied with your car, the stove is working properly, but you want to improve its performance, then it’s time to do tuning.

Installing a new part

Installing a new part is not difficult. Replacing the VAZ-2107 stove motor is completed within a few minutes, and the longest part of this work is to put all the bolts in place and connect all the contacts.

We try not to mix up the wires and thread them into the correct holes near the grooves on which the motor itself is supported. During installation, the fan must be level, without distortions, otherwise it will cling during movement and eventually break.

When the new motor is installed, we put it in place together with the system cover. We try on the body and make sure that it fits into place without any effort and stands straight.

We put the brackets and all the bolts in place, install the insulation, frill, wipers and check how the heating works.
