Verdict

The motorcycle can be called an offering to the God of speed, while being quite suitable as a production motorcycle. Despite its disposition, it is also suitable for travel. After all, the element of this motorcycle is the highway. It feels much worse in the city or heavy traffic. This is due to the large mass, size and engine, which requires a good breeze for cooling. We can definitely say that this is a good motorcycle, but not for everyone.

Suzuki GSX 1300 R Hayabusa is a motorcycle that is heard even by those who are far from the topic. All thanks to the interesting struggle that broke out between Japanese manufacturers for the title of the fastest in the world.

The history of the motorcycle indirectly began long before its appearance. In 1990, the Kawasaki ZZR 1100 appeared on the market and declared itself as the fastest production motorcycle in the class over 1000 cc.

Motorcycle Suzuki GSX 1300 R Hayabusa

Six years later, Honda takes the title. Suzuki could not stand aside and in 1999 introduced the GSX 1300 R Hayabusa to the world. Suzuki not only managed to take the title, but also retained it, despite the response from Kawasaki with their new ZX-12R Ninja.

It became clear that the confrontation would last a long time, if not forever. The maximum speed will increase beyond what is reasonable, which is contrary to any safety of a production motorcycle. An agreement was soon reached to limit the maximum speed of all production motorcycles to 299 km/h.

In 2008, Hayabusa was seriously updated, after which it was referred to as the second generation, which we will talk about now.

Specifications

Let's figure out what our falcon has as a power unit. The engine design is an in-line four with a volume of 1300 cm3. About 197 hp at 10,000 rpm and 155 Nm of torque at 7,200 rpm were removed from the engine. Thanks to the large volume, high torque is realized at medium speeds, which gives a feeling of wild thrust immediately after unscrewing the throttle. This distinguishes Hayabusa from small-capacity sportbikes, which cannot boast of good traction at low and even medium speeds.

Previously, the site Ru-moto.com published a motorcycle review of the Suzuki GSR 600

Our handsome car's acceleration to hundreds is 2.6 seconds, which, with a curb weight of 260 kg, leads us to the conclusion that the engine is very powerful. All this has a significant impact on fuel consumption. During a quiet ride, it is 7-8 liters, but if you want to “unscrew” it properly, then get ready to safely fill all 20 liters.

The motorcycle has an aluminum frame. The suspension, by the way, has hints of comfort and is quite soft for a sports motorcycle. There's something touring in the motorcycle's DNA. The front is represented by an inverted fork, equipped with all adjustments and a stroke of 120 mm. At the rear there is a classic swingarm with a monoshock absorber, which also has all possible adjustments and a stroke of 140 mm.

To stop such a thin and very, very fast horse, you need serious brakes. And here we have two 310 mm diameter discs at the front with four-piston radial calipers. At the rear there is a 260mm disc with a single-piston caliper.

The motorcycle is equipped with an ABS system.

As a feature of the motorcycle’s structure, one can highlight the motorcycle’s considerable wheelbase of 1485 mm, which can also be considered a small reference to the touring inclination of the motorcycle.

Price

For a new copy you will have to pay $16,500, which is within the range of other equipment of this class. For a used version in good condition, the price will start at $8,000, and this is quite interesting, since this is higher than the average market price for a sportbike.

conclusions

Suzuki GSX 1300 R is a strong and efficient sports bike.
It can reach very high speeds. It must be said that this fastest sports motorbike in the world is listed in the Guinness Book of Records.

State-of-the-art technology works perfectly here, delivering incredible power.

It also provides the most efficient weight-to-power ratio.

And a bright and memorable appearance immediately becomes the center of attention.

The Suzuki Hayabusa 1300R motorcycle has excellent dynamics and acceleration. They instantly respond to movements of the throttle.

Such a masterpiece of engineering can give a lot of pleasure while driving.

Few people will replace this sports bike with any other.

We present to you the Honda Valkyrie, whose technical characteristics, combined with its appearance, take it to a leading position among similar models.

This model has qualities that give it maximum sportiness. This motorcycle has perfect appearance and technical characteristics.

Tuning

Oddly enough, Suzuki Hayabusa has become a favorite “field” for lovers of modifications. And it is difficult to single out a specific vector in which a custom bead is most often made. Often there are motorcycles converted for drag, then serious modifications to the engine are appropriate, including turbocharging, with the resource calculated for the race. Changes also apply to the suspension: travel is reduced, rigidity is increased, and the pendulum is lengthened to stabilize the motorcycle on a straight line.

Tuning the appearance has no boundaries. You come across beads converted into trikes. Street at its base is also not uncommon.

Maintenance and repair

The first generation became, in some way, a test and revealed the weak points of the motorcycle, such as:

  • weak design of the rear subframe, which could often become deformed due to increased load when installing the trunk;
  • instant oil starvation caused by a motorcycle fall or wheelie.

Therefore, in the second generation, all the shortcomings were corrected, and the motorcycle can confidently be called reliable.

In terms of maintenance, everything is standard, and a handy owner will be able to handle the issue without outside help. The chain deserves special attention - the powerful engine strives to stretch it.

You shouldn’t skimp on tires; road grip should remain at the same level, because we have 197 horses and they need to be controlled somehow.

It is worth paying attention to timely oil changes, otherwise it can become a serious problem for the motorcycle and you.

Comparison with analogues

Motorcycle Kawasaki ZZR 1400

As mentioned earlier, the main competitors in the class are the Kawasaki ZZR 1100 and Honda CBR 1100 XX. But we decided that these were rivals of the first generation Hayabusa and it was not appropriate to compare them with motorcycles that had long since rolled off the assembly line. We also found a more recent rival to our motorcycle - the Kawasaki ZZR 1400. Let's compare their performance.

As the name suggests, Kawasaki has 100 cc. cm more, and you can get 200 hp from the engine, here the bus loses a little. The competitor's curb weight is 268 kg, which is 8 kg more than the bus.

Having compared the indicators characterizing the power supply, we move on to the acceleration time, and here we see absolutely the same numbers from 2.6 to hundreds. All other characteristics can be left to the subjective choice of the buyer. But it is important to note that busa is still very common in the motorcycle community.

Owner reviews

Good day to all! I decided to leave my review about this motorcycle. Perhaps it will be interesting to someone. So... I came across an option for sale, a motorcycle in excellent condition, 2009. with a mileage of 15,000 km. white. There were no comments, neither about the appearance, nor about the condition of the chassis and engine. I switched to a Hayabusa after (at the same time) with the bandit 1200. And so... I get on the motorcycle for the first time, start it up... immediately the space is filled with the booming sound of working Yoshimura mufflers. The throttle response is excellent. I squeeze the clutch, engage first gear and move off. I immediately notice that the motorcycle is somehow knocked down, like a bull) At first it didn’t turn sharply, and more than 5000 rpm. in this mode, a hayabusa is no different from a bandit. But after some time I got used to it and began to try what the motorcycle was capable of. On warm tires, with a slightly sharp movement of the throttle, the rear wheel goes into skid easily in the first 3 gears. The 3 Hayabusa rides very interestingly from 0 to 250 km/h. It’s interesting when the tachometer and speedometer needles in 3rd gear hit the scale stops almost simultaneously. The dynamics of the motorcycle allow you to ride at a speed of 100 km/h and, with a sharp opening of the gas, go from a standstill to the “point”... as well as at a speed of 200! The most interesting thing is that the Hayabusa drives in all gears as Bandit drives in first. This is of course a very rough comparison. The gears are engaged very clearly and clearly, there are no backlashes. And when shifting, the slipper clutch allows you to shift without jerking, very smoothly. The brakes are better than on the bandit, and in principle they are sufficient. A very interesting toy on long straights, but boring in the city and on not very good roads. You can’t just lift it off the gas in most cases, which is probably why it’s a little more boring than a bandit for me. I owned this motorcycle for a year and then sold it. I just probably realized that driving it less than 200 is boring, and more than that is dangerous. Although almost immediately I almost bought an almost new ninja ZX14) 'Red coupe'

I'll start by purchasing this moto. I didn't have much at all. about 50 of our rubles. watched a lot. Honda VFR400 Kavu ZZR400 Badit 400. While I thought all these motorcycles were for sale. in the end I saw a bead on sale for 85 in Smolensk and ran there. I came and bought it right away. I got an engine with a mileage of 2148 and the rear part))) the previous owner flew into his grandfather in a VAZ 2107 who was trying to turn around after a turn. From the instrument readings: the speed at the time of the collision was 150. The impact hit the front of the car. Damage to the bike: front wheel, calipers, brake discs, fork, traverse, 2 radiators, exhaust pants, headlight, frame and a few other little things. The previous owner was in the gear and was not injured at all. What I previously owned. I've been skating since I was 12 years old. a lot of Russian stuff. about 25 spendthrifts visited me. Next comes urgent repairs. Uncle Sasha said that we will straighten the frame and weld it. a beam will be better (Japanese robots welded the seams poorly, half of the 6 thicknesses are without welding) I bought a wheel, a fork, and a radiator from someone in Moscow. And the engine started!!! then ebay helped me and became like new. First departure. This is not true, I was just afraid to accelerate. the first gas slightly and the axle boxes or wheel rises slightly. In short, while I was practicing starting and braking in different ways, I wiped out the tires and the pads. I still have only good memories about this mot. fifth speed, the speedometer needle is on the limiter (after 280 there are 2 more bars and a limiter) on the tachometer 10500, I turn it up to 11000, turn on 6 and the speed increase continues until 6 hits the cutoff of 11000 at 6... and it feels like you’re not driving on the road and you’re already floating. indescribable feelings. I only matured to the maximum speed after 2 seasons of ownership. I tried it a couple of times before, but by 280 I changed my mind. The motor has never failed. I drove 10k miles on it. fuel consumption - city 10 suburban 5-12 (how to drive) average 8. Among the consumables, I changed the fork seals (learned to ride in the rear) 1 time, pads 2 times, rear tires 3 times, oil 3 times and oil filter 2 times. The moto is very comfortable. up to 230 you don’t feel the wind pressure even with a passenger. Trips on the track showed that the brakes are not sporty at all and there is a lot of weight. decided to sell. Metasov Sergey Vladimirovich

With respect to all living and thirsty people! So I decided to write a review about my steel horse. I bought a bus from an advertisement on the Internet in Novosibirsk. The vehicle was produced in 2006 and is in good condition. In two months I have driven a little over eight thousand km. The speedometer went down several times - it was a rocket! The road surface leaves much to be desired; you can't speed up! You can ride this starlet in different ways as your heart desires - smoothly and softly, or you can also make a grip on the rear wheel. The engine is “evil” when needed or, on the contrary, soft. The suspension is excellent, swallows almost everything within reasonable limits. This “monster” constantly provokes me to twist the gas slowly, it’s not interesting, the result was the second rear ramp and the front brake pads. Consumables are not a problem - you can get everything. Oil and fuel consumption is normal - how will you twist it!! In the city it is easy to steer. On the highway it's a song! Doesn't like weakness, requires good physical shape and attention on the road especially in the city - children, opening doors, deceiving turns and other unpredictable “shots” in general, I really like the mot and all my friends - cool technique - a clot of adrenaline!!!!!! Brief overview of the model

Hayabusa has a fairly good engine, the volume of which exceeds 1.3 liters. While driving such a vehicle, you can forget about the lack of power. With a bike like this, 300 km/h is not the limit.

The suspension is customizable and can be adjusted to suit your preferences. In this case, both the front and rear parts are adjustable.

The new model Suzuki Hayabusa gsx1300r completely got rid of the problems of its predecessors associated with brakes. Brembo M50 walk-behind tractors with built-in anti-lock braking system are a guarantee of safe driving. At the same time, we also thought about the driver’s comfort - sitting behind the wheel of a sports bike is very comfortable. Even after a whole day in the saddle of the Suzuki Hayabusa, there is no desire to get up and stretch your legs.

The simple control of the Hayabusa motorcycle is also pleasing, which is further simplified thanks to the S-DMS system.

With its help you can avoid a number of mistakes while driving in bad weather conditions.
