Fill it into the tank to the maximum level;

Note. When the steering wheel is rotated, the oil will flow out. You will need to constantly refill it.

We start the engine for a few seconds, turn it off;
We turn the steering wheel again;
Add oil;
We pump and remove air from the system by turning the steering wheel with the car turned off ten times in each direction (we do the same number of times with the engine running).

When changing the oil, be sure to look at all hoses and pipes. If oil is leaking, this is a sign of a torn or faulty hose that will need to be replaced. Hoses are replaced only after the oil has been completely pumped out. You will need to unscrew the clamps and remove the hoses from the pump. As for installation, new hoses and pipes should be tightened with clamps and not overdo it (hoses easily burst, if anything happens).

Note. Installing new hoses can be difficult, since the location of the power steering itself is inconvenient.

The pump of this mechanism deserves a separate discussion. It costs about 3 thousand Russian rubles and is often repaired rather than replaced. But if repairs don’t help, you’ll have to spend money. As for high-quality repairs, you can again do it yourself, thereby saving your money.

VAZ 2110 has a hydraulic booster on the car

Typically, a ZF brand pump is installed on the VAZ 2110 power steering, which is also used on the Audi A6, Volkswagen and other cars. But this pump model is not dismountable and there are no retaining rings or covers on it. This does not mean that it is impossible to restore the operation of such a pump. Below are instructions for removing and disassembling the power steering pump:

Remove the clamp;
Disconnect the return hose (do it carefully so as not to spill oil);
Disconnect the connector;
Remove the DJ (sensor) from the fitting bolt.

Note. It is under no circumstances recommended to drop this fluid pressure sensor. Otherwise you will have to buy a new one.

We disconnect the discharge tube, first removing the union bolt;
Remove the power steering drive belt;
Now it's time to start removing the pump itself;
Loosen the first bolt securing the pump;
We completely unscrew the second bolt securing the pump;
Remove the pump assembly.

Note. Remember that the first bolt securing the pump cannot be completely removed.

We clean the pump from dirt and visually inspect it. If a development is found on the inner wall of the housing, resembling steps, then they need to be removed using a special nozzle and a drill.

We assemble the pump in reverse order. Unlike other pump models, the ZF version has vanes that do not turn over.

Note. To thread the flange onto the shaft, it will need to be heated. Then quickly put it on the shaft and wait until it cools down.

The power steering pump may make noise after installation. But there is no need to be afraid of this, because everything is explained simply: grinding in parts.

Refueling

Refueling the air conditioner must be done using special equipment, and this should be done by a specialist. Refueling in a garage is possible, but not at all rational. To carry it out, you will need to purchase equipment and refrigerant (which is not so easy to obtain). One refill will require about 600 grams of R134A freon.

It contains fluorine, which is harmful to the body and must be handled with extreme caution. Taking into account all these points, the most rational option would be to take the car to a service center.

Here are the main stages of the refueling process:

creating a vacuum inside the air conditioning system. This is done in order to ensure its tightness;
special oil is pumped into the system to dilute freon;
freon is supplied to the circuits;
The system is again checked for leaks. If there are no leaks, the driver can only pay for the services of a specialist. They cost from 1500 rubles.

The old ones differ in that their rubber hose can be directly detached from the steel tube, which is screwed with a hollow bolt onto the spool mechanism of the rack. Next are the brackets. I installed everything according to the standard scheme and used standard brackets. The power steering pump is mounted on its bracket with three bolts at the front and an additional plate at the rear. If you buy a bracket separately, pay attention to its availability:

I chose the power steering one; it is attached at three widely spaced points and generally inspires more confidence.

I can’t say for sure, but it may be necessary to install a new type of engine support bracket, without the ear on top:

The fact is that the power steering bracket of the generator has a casting on top that, as it were, hugs the engine support bracket from above. It will not fit on an old-style bracket without modifications with a file; it is necessary to sharpen about a centimeter of the casting. But besides this, I got the impression that the generator bracket still rests on top of some protrusions and turns out to be turned a little clockwise (within the limits of the bolt stroke). That. The generator itself is not strictly coaxial with the rest of the pulleys. I came to this conclusion after the outer part of the roller was eaten away by a belt. Now I've installed a new sample, and it seems like he's not eating anything anymore.

And lastly, the steering cardan. When installing power steering, it needs to be replaced because the part of the steering rack that extends into the cabin is significantly longer:

I can’t say for sure the difference in length, but something around 35 cm for the long one and 27 cm for the short one. The cardan shafts are solid, like on the 2110, and detachable, like on the Priors. I chose the second option because... much easier to install.

It allows you to separately attach the parts to the column and rail, and then simply screw them together without having to aim anywhere. According to the factory, the long half is attached to the rail, and the short half to the column, but I secured it the other way around because... in this case, access to the bolt connecting them is much more convenient.

The amplifier installation procedure is as follows:

The next step will be to remove the steering column trim, ignition switch, and all switches located under the steering wheel. At this stage, you need to do everything carefully, since the lining itself is fragile and can crack.
Then the screw securing the rail is unscrewed, after which it is removed. Next, you will need to compare the length of the old and new intermediate shafts, since adjustments will need to be made to the plates and the shaft itself. The further fitting procedure is carried out by turning - it is best to perform it on a machine, this will allow you to obtain the most accurate result. We recommend that you contact specialists for this task. As for the dimensions of the plate, they are adjusted by re-drilling some holes to a greater depth. In addition, you may also need to trim the corners of the plate a little with a grinder, after which you will need to install spacers between it and the car body.
Install the amplifier along with the rail and plate - a standard screw may not be suitable for fixing, so you will have to install a shorter bolt instead. In turn, this may lead to the need to install a limiter to prevent arbitrary rotation of the shaft.
Next, the central part of the switches is installed.
After this, two wires are laid from the vehicle interior to the battery; it is advisable to lay the wiring through the left fender. The expansion tank of the washer system is being dismantled. You need to find a long copper wire, with its help you will push the wiring. Then open the mounting block with the safety elements and find the wires that go into the engine compartment, you will need to push the wire through the same hole. Be careful not to damage the wiring. Once the wire comes out through the left fender, attach the amplifier wires to it and push them into the engine compartment.
Then the control panel is dismantled, having done this, you need to find the red connector. Next, the wiring from the amplifier is pushed into the space under the shield. It is necessary to disconnect the orange cable from the red connector; a block from the set of wires for the electric power steering is installed on it. This wire should be connected to the orange wiring of the installed system, and the remaining end with the terminal is mounted instead of the standard cable in the connector.
Similar actions are carried out with the gray wire; it is also installed in the red connector. The cables routed into the engine compartment must be connected as follows: the black wire is connected to the negative, the pink wire to the positive. Actually, at this point the installation procedure can be considered complete. Now you only need to reinstall the cover and steering wheel.

The installation of the power steering system must be carried out by car service specialists, and the owner is given a special document. The certificate of completed work is submitted to the registration and examination department of the traffic police, and on its basis changes are made to the PTS. During installation, you must strictly follow the instructions supplied with the equipment.

Step-by-step work on installing power steering on a VAZ-2107:

the car is driven onto a viewing hole or a lift, the front part is suspended, the wheels are dismantled;
using special equipment, the rod ends are disconnected from the steering wheel bipod;
inside the car, the spline joint is unscrewed and the shaft on which the steering wheel is mounted is removed;
the bolts securing the machine to the spar are released and the mechanism is removed;
a new gearbox with an actuating hydraulic cylinder is attached to the vacant space;
A pump is installed on the engine cylinder block to provide the required oil pressure in the structure. The drive belt is thrown over the crankshaft pulley and tensioned as indicated in the instructions;
at the next stage, installation of high-pressure hoses and pipelines is carried out, their connection to the actuator and compressor;
operating fluid (1.8 liters) is poured into the system, and the equipment is checked for tightness of connections

At the end of the process, the hydraulic housing must be pumped to remove any remaining air from it. To do this, you need to turn the steering wheel several times until it stops in both directions. After these steps, a trial first start of the engine is carried out and the system is checked for operability. The steering force should begin to decrease sharply almost immediately after starting.

For further operation of the VAZ-2107 model, wheel alignment angles are checked on a special stand. If necessary, camber and toe are adjusted and brought to the characteristics established by the technical passport. It should be remembered that power steering makes it possible to maneuver at low speeds and turn the steering wheel even in place without much effort.

Let's say you purchased an EUR kit - it could be from a VAZ 2110 or from another model, for example, from a Priora. Prepare the following tools:

Drill together with a metal drill.
Set of screwdrivers, grinder.
Long ruler.

Step-by-step instruction

You need to remove the standard terminal from the block and place it in the block on the harness. We find the standard drive, which is attached to the block. A free terminal must be installed in its place. Now the wire can be placed between the fasteners.

Now we take a screwdriver in our hands and carefully remove the steering column housing, and then dismantle the lock and switches. We need to remove the steering rack; to do this, unscrew the bolt that holds it.

Take the new and old shaft. Compare their lengths, since we will have to adjust the shaft together with the plate in the future. Don't forget to write down your results.

We need to adjust the shaft, this should be done on a special machine. It is better to perform this step with the masters, and then return to independent work again.

As for the plate, here you need to use a drill. Make sure that the EUR plate matches the hydraulic booster plate. If necessary, trim the corners and place a spacer between the plate and the tens body.

Now you can try to install the electric amplifier along with the rack and plate. If the standard bolt does not fit, then take a smaller mount. The next step is to install the center part of the switch.

Now we stretch two wires from the interior of the VAZ 2110 to the battery, this can be done through the left wing. Next, you will need to dismantle the washer reservoir; behind it you will see a copper wire. We move to the safety block and find the wiring there that goes under the hood. The wire must be placed there, as a result it will come out in the left wing. Attach the wires to it, and then pull it all the way into the space under the hood.

We dismantle the upper part of the instrument panel (speedometers) and find the red block. We take the wires coming from the power steering and move them to the space under the dashboard. We need to find the orange wire - disconnect it and put it on the block that came with the EUR. Having found the end with the terminal, place it in place of the standard wire.

We repeat the procedure with the gray wire. We return to the wires that we pulled out through the wires: we connect the pink plus to the plus, and the black to the minus.

Done, all that remains is to put the steering wheel and casing back in place.

Adjustment

After assembly, you will need to straighten the steering wheel if it is installed crooked. Separately install the sensor that came with the EUR. If the column casing is cracked, it is better to immediately replace it with a good one. There may be gaps between the front panel and the casing - they must be removed.
