- The first layer is a vibration-insulating material that is glued to the ceiling, and the second layer is a sound-heat-insulating material (for example, “splen”).
- It is imperative to properly smooth the first and second layers of material, since not only the quality of fastening, but also the efficiency of noise reduction depends on this.
- Splen can be applied in one or two layers. After pasting the last sheet, it is necessary to return the decorative ceiling material to its place.
Features of the use of soundproofing materials
For sound insulation, you should use specialized materials intended for use in a car. Using building sound insulation or, for example, sweatshirts will not give the desired effect and can cause harm. For example, the fire safety of the interior will deteriorate or the material will begin to absorb moisture, leading to corrosion of body elements.
Particular problems are caused by filling body voids with polyurethane foam. This homemade method helps to achieve a significant reduction in noise in the cabin, eliminating vibrations. However, polyurethane foam perfectly absorbs moisture, forming a humid environment in the sills and other cavities of the body. Accordingly, the metal quickly rots and body parts require unscheduled replacement.
The order and method of placing soundproofing materials is of great importance. Violation of technology will not allow you to get the desired result, regardless of the quality of the materials used. They are stacked in the following order:
