In the instrument panel wiring harness, the second ends of the white wires are brought together to one point, which is connected to the instrument lighting control. The second ends of the black wires are also brought together to a point connected to ground. The second ends of the yellow wires with a blue stripe are brought together to a point connected to terminal “A” of the main fuse block. And the second ends of the orange wires are also brought together to a point connected to terminal “B” of the main fuse block.

Detailed electrical diagram of Niva
The wiring diagram may vary slightly depending on the design features of the vehicle.
First, let's look at the index notation:
- VAZ 21213. This index designates a vehicle equipped with a carburetor. The volume of the power unit is 1.7 liters.
- 21214. In VAZ 21214 cars, the scheme involves the use of a similar engine with the same volume. The only difference is that the car is equipped with a fuel injection system.
- There is another model with the index 21213. In VAZ 21213 cars, the electrical circuit includes the same elements, only depending on the year of manufacture, the car can be equipped with a 1.8 liter engine.
- Version 21073. The SUV is equipped with either an injection engine with nozzles or a Solex carburetor engine. One of the features of these cars is a contactless ignition circuit.
- 21215. These SUVs were originally produced for export, so these cars are difficult to find on our roads. It is worth noting that they were equipped with Citroen diesel engines.
At the beginning of the article there is a diagram of the VAZ electrical equipment using the example of the Niva 2121 model. If you are the owner of version 2131 or any other, then there will be a difference in the circuit diagram, but not fundamentally. Features of electrical equipment
Generator Differences
It was already mentioned earlier that the wiring diagram of the VAZ 21213 had some differences, primarily related to the installed power unit.
In particular, fuel-injected versions required a more powerful generator, so:
- A generator model 371.3701 was installed on the VAZ 21213;
- The VAZ 21214 was equipped with generator model 9412.3701.
Wiring Differences
The VAZ 21213 engine compartment wiring is made in different designs to facilitate do-it-yourself maintenance.
For versions with an injection power unit, the wiring on the VAZ 21213 has three additional connectors for the contactless ignition unit.
In addition, the VAZ 21214 model has 2 radiator cooling fans, so the wiring for them also has its differences from the “thirteenth”. A schematic diagram of connecting the elements of the cooling system is presented below.

The main fuse box is located in the passenger compartment under the instrument panel, to the left of the steering wheel. To access the blocks, pull the latch located on top of the blocks and remove the cover.

On the left under the instrument panel, on the body, there is a block of four fuses for the engine management system and a diagnostic connector. To access the block, unscrew two self-tapping screws and remove the casing.
Engine control relay
Below the main fuse box are the engine management system relays.

Relay box under the dashboard
Under the instrument panel, just above the gas pedal, there is a block with four relays.
- Niva rear fog light relay;
- relay for turning on the heated glass of the tailgate;
- low beam headlight relay;
- high beam headlight relay.
Above this block, behind the instrument cluster, there is a turn signal and hazard warning relay.
Blocks for LADA 4X4 2021
The relay and fuse diagram may differ depending on the configuration and production date of the vehicle. Current diagrams of the mounting block are presented in the operating manual as of the date of manufacture of the vehicle.
The fuses are grouped in two fuse blocks located on the left under the instrument panel. The fuse ratings and the circuits they protect are shown in the table.
The fuses for the VAZ 2131 injection system are located in a separate block on the left side under the instrument panel.
The electric motors of VAZ-2121 gearmotors (windshield wipers, tailgate glass, headlights - if installed) are protected by automatic reusable bimetallic fuses. The power supply circuit of the injection system is protected by a fuse-link made of wire with a conductor of reduced cross-section (1 mm2). The battery charging, ignition, engine starting, and “generator – ignition switch – fuse box” circuits are not protected. Powerful consumers (starter, headlights, electric motors Niva 2131 cooling system fans, electric fuel pump, etc.) are connected via a relay.

The ignition switch on these cars is located to the left of the steering column. It is fixed directly to it using two fixing bolts. The entire mechanism of the device, except for the upper part in which the keyhole is located, is hidden by a plastic casing.
On the visible part of the ignition switch housing, special marks are applied in a certain order, allowing inexperienced drivers to navigate the lock activation mode when the key is in the hole:
The ignition switch has five contacts and, accordingly, five terminals, which are responsible for supplying voltage to the desired unit. All of them are numbered for convenience. Each pin corresponds to a wire of a certain color:
