They sold wipers with the loud name “Champion 2101” for 274 rubles. About 12 years ago I bought something similar at a VAZ for 21,043 rubles for 150 - inflation.

The wipers that are installed on the Niva 2121 from the factory are 38 cm; in bad weather, they clean out two small embrasures on the glass, through which little is visible. Probably, it is assumed that the driver of the Niva, like in a tractor, has nowhere to look, it drives anyway. The most annoying thing is the loss of visibility on the left, due to which I once miraculously passed a particularly zealous pedestrian (in Moscow, like cats, they have several lives or what?).

I recommend immediately installing larger wipers, as large as the entire structure allows. The type of fastening - hook - is the most common and there are no problems with the choice.

First, 41 cm wipers were installed. They fit like family, without problems, visibility improved slightly, but it was clear that this was not the limit. The next size that we managed to install was 45 cm (pictured). This seems to be the maximum, but +7 centimeters is not a small thing at all. At the same time, in the photo the wipers have not yet been adjusted, and the driver’s blade at the point of attachment to the turning axis should be turned a little, so that in a vertical position it approaches the glass pillar as closely as possible and cleans the viewing surface on the left. Yes, after this it does not fit so well in the lower position, but this does not interfere with the view. When I adjusted it, the snow had already ended and it wouldn’t have been possible to photograph the area being cleared so effectively.

True, increasing the size of the brushes is not entirely without problems. It becomes harder for the wiper motor to work, which leads to its rapid failure. At 41cm, my wiper motor died a year and a half after I bought the car at the dealership. Moreover, in the factory design of the electrical wiring, the death of the wiper leads to very unpleasant consequences. When the wiper relay closes, the second fuse on the right blows out and the car is left without turn signals, brake lights and an instrument panel. I plan to reconnect the wipers to a different fuse, but having encountered this, I already know that I can simply disconnect the wiper motor.

I installed a new wiper drive, taking, according to recommendations, a model produced by KATEK. At the factory, the wiper motor is protected with a piece of film, which is successfully replaced with a plastic liter bottle with a hole cut out before installation.

Now I wonder how quickly the motor will die with 45 cm wipers. Maybe I was just unlucky with the first one. Or you will need to look for a more powerful one from another machine, maybe there are ones that can be installed without any special modifications.

NIVA wipers and washer nozzles

First of all, I bought fan nozzles.

Instead of the old inkjet ones, which were frankly annoying with their disgusting quality. One injector simply fell into pieces, and I drove half the road with the glass half covered in dirt. True, you can’t put these fan-shaped injectors in the standard places, but it doesn’t matter, I now have the “correct” nostril on the hood, into which it would now be a sin not to install the “correct” injectors, which is what I did.

To prevent water from flowing back into the tank, and then there was no pause while it was pumped back into the system, I installed a check valve from the Toyota washer system (I just pressed it and water immediately flowed).

I moved the driver's wipers 15 cm to the left, the passenger wipers by 5. + the engine is from the 8 and the relay is also clear. I'll post a report with photos a little later. Replacing the windshield wiper for Niva 2121, VAZ 2131, Lada 4x4

Disconnect the negative cable of the battery. We remove the windshield wiper to replace the gear motor or deformed parts of the lever drive. To remove the leash...

We lower the VAZ 2121 cleaner down to remove the bushings from the body holes, while removing the bracket from the studs...

...and move the windshield wiper assembly to the right side of the car from under the hood lock bracket (for clarity, the air intake box has been removed).

To remove the gearmotor from the windshield wiper bracket...

...using a 10mm wrench, unscrew the nut securing the crank to the gearmotor shaft... ...and, using a screwdriver, remove the crank of the VAZ 2131. Using a 10mm wrench, unscrew the three bolts securing the gearmotor to the bracket... ...and disconnect the bracket and the gearmotor.

We assemble the windshield cleaner Niva 2121 in the reverse order.

Many owners of VAZ Niva-21213 and 21214 cars have encountered a problem when the windshield wipers do not work as expected, that is, at a very slow speed. The windshield wiper system operates in two operating modes: continuous and intermittent.

However, on other cars, for example, Moskvich 2141 or VAZ 2108, or on models of modern production, there is a gear motor with three operating speeds: constant slow, intermittent and constant fast.

In our opinion, for VAZ Niva cars versions 21213 and 21214, such a system is a big drawback, since during heavy rain the wipers work with great difficulty.

It was decided to modernize the windshield wiper drive by integrating into it a more powerful and faster gearbox from Moskvich 2141 (usually VAZ version 2108 is equipped with a similar system). After taking measurements in Niva, it turned out that placing the updated gear motor on the standard windshield wiper trapezoid would not be a labor-intensive task.

Installation of wipers on VAZ-21213

The electric windshield wiper motor on Niva VAZ 21213 and 21214 cars has two blades, permanent magnets and one speed. It is equipped with a thermobimetallic fuse to prevent possible overloads. Each of the operating modes of the purifier is activated using a switch under the steering wheel. The intermittent (intermittent) mode operates through a relay version PC 514 (attached with two nuts to the side panel located in the foreground on the left).

The relay is designed to provide from nine to seventeen activations of the electric motor per minute, while the temperature should be from negative 20 to positive fifty degrees, with a power system voltage of ten volts.

When the wipers are activated on a Niva 21214 and 21213, each brush is capable of producing a maximum of four double strokes in continuous mode. The degree of resistance of the electromagnetic winding on the relay is 66 +-2 Ohms, and the winding on the breaker is 23 +-1 Ohms.
