Installing a new window regulator

  2. Installing cables around the rollers.
  3. Fastening the glass clips with a cable. It is fixed with screws using 2 brackets.
  4. Installation of the guide groove.
  5. Cable tension.
  6. Now the bracket that secures the branches of the cable is removed.
  7. Installation of door trim and handles.

The cable can be routed around the rollers in two ways through the rolling support (upper or lower). If the line goes through the lower roller, then the cable is routed as follows:

  1. Left guide roller (lower).
  2. Left guide support (top).
  3. Central tension reel (bottom).
  4. The guide element is at the top right.

If the front window regulator is being replaced, then you can loop it through the upper coil in the reverse order.

Stretching process:

  1. Lower the glass to the down position.
  2. Turn the handle all the way in the direction of lowering the window.
  3. Adjust the cable tension by moving the required roller.
  4. The bolt clamp that secures the roller.

Please note that the tension should be sensitive. The cable should not be overtightened, but it should not be allowed to dangle either.

Removal instructions

To complete the work you will need the following tools:

  • Phillips and flathead screwdrivers;
  • a set of keys;
  • knob;
  • extension.

The removal procedure consists of the following steps:

  1. First of all, you need to remove the casing.
  2. Next, the glass is lowered as far as possible. Use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the bolt holding the clamp.
  3. After unscrewing the bolt, lower the clamp down.
  4. Then on the left side of the door, just loosen the roller nut using a wrench.
  5. The cable is now free and can be removed from the roller.
  6. Next, unscrew the three nuts holding the window regulator.
  7. When unscrewing the third bolt, the mechanism should be held from the inside.
  8. When the window lifting mechanism is free, move it to the side.
  9. After unscrewing the last nut, you can remove the window regulator from the door.

Next, repair or replacement is carried out. The rear mechanism is installed in the same way.

Installation of power windows on a VAZ 2106

Installing a power window

Now let's start making a choice, first of all we need to decide whether we will deliver an electronic mechanism, that is, a mechanism will be added to the assembled working standard kit, which is already installed on our car, and a mechanism will be added for you to turn the window lifter handle, or a full-fledged mechanism where We will replace everything related to the window regulator.
Let's take a closer look at both types. Window lifters are often used on belts or cables for installation in domestic cars; they have a universal fastening and an elastic shape that allows them to be bent in the desired position without violating the principle of operation. To begin with, we remove the door trim and the standard window lift handle, then we determine where the buttons will be placed; some place them near the handbrake, others on the door trim. Don’t forget that if you install on the doors, then the driver’s door should have a complete set of all power window buttons. If in the area of ​​the gearbox shift lever, then it is enough to put only four buttons there; this is often done by those who do not want passengers in the back seat to open the windows themselves. And so, we decided where the buttons will be, we install them.

Next, we disconnect the battery, since we will have to work with the electronic part of the car. Now we install the power window control unit, usually it is placed under the control panel, and the power is connected to it. From it we lead wires to the control buttons, from the control buttons now under the trim we lead to the window regulators and in this order we lead them to all the doors where our mechanisms will be installed. We conduct it in such a way that the wires do not touch the moving mechanisms of the window lifter, since over time they can fray and a short circuit will occur, then we conduct and take power, it is recommended from the general network on the cigarette lighter, since there is always power there.

Don’t forget about the night illumination, so you also need to connect the buttons to the backlight button; to do this, we will extend additional wires from the power window buttons to the size button. Let's start installing the window regulators themselves. If you choose the first type, where they only complement the standard mechanisms, then the fastening is simple, just a couple of screws to the door frame. The main thing is that it is attached firmly and does not move.

Liberally lubricate all moving mechanisms, check the functionality of the electric windows with and without backlight, try lowering and raising the glass several times, make sure that the mechanism does not rub anything and does not interfere with its operation. We assemble the door trim and put the plugs in place of the standard handles. Having put everything in its place, we again test the quality of the work. When connecting, carefully look at the plus and minus wires, as the window regulator may not work correctly.

Problems will appear when installing the trim, since the mechanism will not be in its normal places, but will protrude; try to mount it in those places where there is space between the trim and the metal part of the door.

We have dealt with the first type of window lifters on cables and belts, now we will analyze the installation of the second type. Unlike those that are on belts and installed as an addition, the mechanism on gears completely replaces standard lifts. We bring the installation process to the point of removing the standard window regulators. Now we lock the glass in the position where it is completely closed and remove the standard mechanisms. Pulling out the old mechanism from the door housing is not so easy, so take your time so that the glass does not accidentally fall and break. After that, install the power window, lower it to the open position, and lower the glass onto the frame. We tighten the bolts of the glass frame and the lift mechanism. Such a mechanism is installed from inside the door and is attached to standard mounting holes. The advantage of such a mechanism is that it has a long service life, and there are no friction mechanisms; the lifting force is transmitted through gears and directly. When choosing such a mechanism, do not buy one with plastic gears.

At first it will work perfectly and silently, but after a while it will make itself felt. Next, close the casing and try the mechanism. It often takes half a day for one door with full wiring. Therefore, it is not worth calculating the installation in an hour.

It is worth considering that electric window regulators are not cheap and you should not rush to the first one you come across; see if there are factory mechanisms on sale, because they will work much better than universal ones or from another manufacturer for your car.

  3. After unscrewing the bolt, lower the clamp down.
  4. Then on the left side of the door, just loosen the roller nut using a wrench.
  5. The cable is now free and can be removed from the roller.
  6. Next, unscrew the three nuts holding the window regulator.
  7. When unscrewing the third bolt, the mechanism should be held from the inside.
  8. When the window lifting mechanism is free, move it to the side.
  9. After unscrewing the last nut, you can remove the window regulator from the door.

Next, repair or replacement is carried out. The rear mechanism is installed in the same way.

Installation of a new or repaired window lifter is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

To carry out repair work on the removal and subsequent installation of the front door windows of the VAZ 2106, we will need wrenches “10” to “8” and a screwdriver.

  • The first step is to remove the front side glass so that it does not interfere with our work.
  • Remove the window lift cable from the upper guide pulley. The upper guide roller is not visible from the outside of the door and is in the same vertical line as the lower guide roller.   2. Cable ones - due to their design, they are weaker and more often fail. The fundamental element of this type of window lifter is a cable attached to the twisting mechanism. The device operates rather slowly due to the low functional properties of the drive, which with force overcomes the resistance of the sealing rubber bands. It may also happen that it begins to overheat and at some point simply fails. The advantage of this type of mechanism is its good maintainability, but too frequent need for repairs practically eliminates this advantage. The operation of the window lifter is configured and adjusted by the manufacturer, so you should interfere with it extremely carefully and carefully, otherwise the mechanism may jam, crackle and crackle.

From personal experience, I advise you to carefully study the device and read the detailed troubleshooting instructions before starting to independently repair the window lifter mechanism. Even though many of them seem quite possible to fix with a screwdriver and a wrench, in some cases it may be necessary to completely replace the window regulator.

Before you begin self-repair, you need to study the structure of the window lifter and the principle of its operation.

At first glance, the creaking of the window regulator does not seem to be a serious malfunction, but you should pay attention to this signal, since this is the first sign that the mechanism is wearing out and may soon break. Methods to combat this symptom are extremely simple, accessible to everyone and do not take much time:

  • lubricate the window lifter - lubricants from any manufacturer, widely available in car dealerships, are suitable for these purposes; At the first sign of squeaking, the window lifter must be lubricated
  • Replace the rubber bands in contact with the glass. When the window is open, dust and sand inevitably enter the car interior, which scratches the glass and rubber bands, resulting in a squeaking sound. The entry of dust and moisture through the gap between the glass and the seal can subsequently lead to jamming of the mechanism, so it is necessary to regularly monitor its cleanliness.

Installation of power windows on a VAZ 2107

Electric windows designed for models 2104-05-07 are suitable for the front doors of the 2107 car; the easiest way to install a rack and pinion design. We install rack ESPs as follows:

  • disassemble the door from the inside - remove the window handle (using a special tool or screwdriver);

  • unscrew the lock release button;
  • unscrew the armrest screws (three fastenings - front (top), middle and back)

  • dismantle the door trim (main part);
  • remove the upper part of the casing (“loaf”);

  • Using a 8mm wrench, unscrew the mechanism bolts;
  • unscrew the bolts of the glass guide bar, remove the guide, it will not be needed;
  • we take the SME out of the door;
  • unscrew the screws securing the mechanism to the glass (4 pieces - two screws on one side and two on the other);

  • unscrew the window lift cable tension nut and remove the cable roller;

  • completely pull out the window lifter mechanism;
  • drill two holes in the door with a diameter of 6 mm (one of them is next to the hole in the door closing handle);
  • We do the drilling on the same plane, and fasten the gearmotor in place of the mechanical window lifter. All screws must be taken from the kit; standard screws will not fit - they are long and will rest against the lift mechanism. If there are no short screws with the window regulators, you need to shorten the standard screws;

  • We fasten the glass holders to the electric window with standard screws;

  • We take out the wires from the lifts, install the buttons either on the door itself or on the central armrest, next to the gearshift lever console.

We assemble the door, and this completes the installation of the window regulator on the VAZ 2107.

Window lift repair

Since repairing a window regulator in most cases involves replacing the mechanism, it is worth considering the step-by-step process from removal to installation. To do this you will need the following list of tools:

  • heads or keys for 8 and 10;
  • extension;
  • ratchet handle;
  • flat and Phillips screwdrivers.

Removing the window regulator

The procedure for removing the device from the car is as follows:

  1. Use a screwdriver to pry up and remove the plugs on the armrest. Use a screwdriver to pry the armrest plugs out
  2. Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the fastening of the armrest to the door and remove it. Unscrew the armrest fastening and remove it from the door
  3. We remove the trim of the window lifter handle by inserting a flat-head screwdriver between the socket and the trim element. Use a screwdriver to pry off the window handle trim
  4. We dismantle the handle and socket. Remove the window handle and socket from the door
  5. Use a flathead screwdriver to pry off the inner door handle trim. To remove the door handle trim, pry it off with a flat screwdriver.
  6. We start the slotted screwdriver and push out the 7 clips that hold the door trim on the sides. The door trim is held in place with clips that need to be pryed off with a screwdriver.
  7. Slightly lower the upholstery and remove it from the inside door handle. We remove the upholstery from the door, lowering it slightly
  8. Lower the window completely and unscrew the cable clamp with a Phillips screwdriver. The cable is attached to the door glass using a suitable clamp
  9. We unscrew the tension roller fastening, then move it and loosen the tension on the window lift cable. To release the tension roller, unscrew the nut with a 10mm wrench.
  10. Remove the cable from the remaining rollers.
  11. We unscrew the fastening of the mechanism and remove it from the door. To remove the window lifter, unscrew the 3 fastening nuts.
  12. If the tension roller has become unusable, which can be determined by its external condition, then completely unscrew its fastening to replace it with a new part. To replace the tension roller, you must completely unscrew its fastening.

Replacing rollers

Window lifter rollers fail over time. Since replacing the top element is the most problematic, we will dwell on this process in more detail. The part to the door is fixed with hooks at the top, and with welding at the bottom. To work you will need the following set of tools:

  • set of drills;
  • electric drill;
  • flat screwdriver;
  • hammer;
  • new video.

The replacement procedure consists of the following steps:

  1. To remove the roller, we drill out the metal at the place where the plate is attached with a 4 mm drill.
  2. We drive a flat screwdriver inside the door under the roller plate and knock it down with a hammer, dismantling the roller. Over time, the window lift rollers wear out with the cable.
  3. Using the hole in the new plate, we drill a mounting hole in the door.
  4. We install a new roller and secure it with a rivet or bolt and nut. The new roller is secured with a rivet or bolt and nut.

Window lifter installation

Before installing a new window lifter, you must check whether the rollers rotate freely. If necessary, lubricate them with Litol.   4. We fix the cable to the glass. Use a Phillips screwdriver to tighten the fastening screw of the clamp.
  5. We check the functionality of the mechanism.
  6. We install the upholstery and door handle, as well as the window lifter handle.
